Pop or Saratoga Springs?

I've just decided to plan a "last minute" trip to Disney 2/15=2/19/21. We will have a rental car, as we will already be in Florida visiting family. I definitely want to get to DHS at rope drop one of our 5 park days. Is there any advantage to staying a Pop for purposes of taking the Skyliner to DHS? Or is there still a long wait in the morning to board the Skyliner at Pop, then another line at CBR? I'd like to stay at Saratoga Springs, as it's a resort I've been wanting to try, and there are many restaurants we enjoy at Disney Springs. With the parks closing early, we would probably walk to the Springs each evening for dinner. I realize the differences between the ambience at a Value versus a Deluxe. I've stayed at Pop in the past, and I'm fine with it. I do know that I would like having the balcony at Saratoga Springs as I do enjoy that when we stay at the deluxes. I know the best way to get to DHS at rope drop it to stay at an Epcot resort, but I'll be staying at Yacht Club in March and Boardwalk in April, so don't really want to pay what it will cost to stay at one of these resorts for this "add on" February trip. Should I stay at Pop for the Skyliner? Or is there really no advantage to that?

In Dec, we walked to HS from BCV and was in line at 7:45 was let in 8:15 for an official 9 opening. While we were in line the buses and skyliner were starting to unload after 8 and the line had built up pretty substantially from walkers at BCV and BWV. The parking lot for cars was also last to be let in. SSR is definitely nicer than POP so if you’re going to spend more time at the resort, I’d go with SSR.

Saratoga is one of the resorts that I hope to stay at next. We have never stayed there but have frequented Old Key West and Port Orleans because we like the vicinity to Disney Springs. On our most recent trip we stayed at Riviera and really enjoyed the access to the Skyliner. The Skyliner was advertised to start running 1 hour prior to park opening; however, we noticed that they started running it about an hour and twenty minutes prior to park opening. I think this was probably to help with the crowds. We are all early risers so this didn't bother us and we were always down there early. Not only was Riviera a beautiful resort, we would stay there again for the Skyliner. We also had dinner reservations on the Boardwalk one night and at Beach Club one night so we were able to utilize the Skyliner to help with transportation there too.

Like RanDIZ said, it really kind of maters how much time you plan to spend at your resort! We tend to spend all of our time out and about and really only utilize the resort for sleeping and showers so if I were in your situation I would probably choose POP.

These are two of the resorts I've been deciding between for a trip in January. We love staying at POR and the proximity to DS is one of the reasons. Which resort did you end up going with, and how did you like it?
