Pop or All Star Movies

Hello!! Ok we have been to Wdw over a hundred times, literally. I know I have a problem. We lived in Florida and would stay at deluxe resorts monthly. I was spoiled. Anyways we now live in Idaho and are taking a trip. We haven’t been in 3 years. We’ve been doing Disneyland, it’s closer. So anyways.... it was just me and my husband we booked pop. I love the values it reminds me of being a kid and the lodge isn’t open yet. But now we are bringing 7 more people! 3 of our “kids” and there spouses/girlfriends. And my mom. And yes we are paying for everybody. So if I switch to Asm I save about $1100. But I really like pop. Is it worth the extra $1100 to stay at pop?? Help!!!!!!!! Sorry so long I’m going out of my mind.

They both have renovated rooms so those are pretty much the same. Transportation, with POP you have the skyliner for HS & Epcot, only buses for ASMo. We have enjoyed both resorts, I found ASMo smaller and easier to get around, but we also walked over to Music for buses and eating sometimes. Which, depending on when you are going, won't be an option since they aren't open. Note, we stayed before Skyliner was open. We'd probably like to stay at POP to try that out, but we tend to go to AK & MK most often so not sure it's worth it given we don't go to Epcot or HS much.

I would just weigh having the amazing Skyliner and a gorgeous lake to look at versus $1100 in my pocket and make the decision based on that.

With an $1100 difference, stay at ASMovies and don't second guess it.

If your trip is soon, then I wouldn't let the skyliner at POP sway you to stay there. Since each party gets their own gondola, the lines get CRAZY long for park open and taking a bus is likely just as, if not more, convenient/quicker for accessing HS and EP. We stayed at POP in Nov and we really did enjoy it, but are staying AS-Mo in April because I could not justify the extra expense for POP when we know the rooms are the same at Movies.

The Skyliner lines look long, but they move quickly. Our longest wait was about 30 minutes when it wound all through the bus stop at CBR. Conversely, we waited an hour for a MK bus one morning.

Have you looked at Art of Animation with the family suites so you don’t need as many rooms? It would have the Skyliner access that Pop has. You could also look into renting a larger DVC suite if you have time.

I have. DVC points are more than both resorts and we really don’t like art of animation at all.

While we love POP, we just stood there over thanksgiving, for an $1100 I would say ASMO. They are newly renovated also. I didn't find the lines ridiculous at all for the sky liner, maybe our timing was great but it was never an issue. I found the bus lines could be a little longer due to social distancing but nothing was ever ridiculous.

Is this a standard pop room verses a standard all-star movies room? Pop is bigger than all-star so the standard rooms are further out on pop than on movies. Both hotels are nice and have such cute theming. I personally would take the savings.

Take the savings. I prefer POP, but for that much of a savings, I would stay at ASMo. The rooms are similar. The biggest difference is that POP has the Skyliner, but I don't think that is worth $1100 extra.

I have stayed at both and, while I prefer Pop, I think the $$$ savings warrants ASM.
Under current conditions, as the other All-Stars remain closed, you shouldn't encounter as large a demand for bus service.
