POP or a moderate resort?

Trying to figgure out where to stay is getting really hard. I had planned on booking POP Century for our trip in September but now I'm not sure. Of the moderate resorts it looks like Caribbean is a little to spread out and Coronado Springs has a convention center so I dont think I want to stay at either one of those but the 2 Port Orleans resorts look pretty neat and might be worth the extra money. How big are those 2 resorts and which one is better? What is the differences between the 2? From what I have read on here is the moderate resorts will be a little less crowded and a little nicer right? I wish they had just one resort, I'm overwhelmed with too many choices!

Do you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort - or will it basically be a place to sleep? When you priced it out, was there a big difference? If it is not much and you plan to hang around the hotel a lot, I would stay at Port Orleans. Otherwise, POP is my fave choice for a value especially if you can get it for $79-99/night. It is hard to decide where to stay, I agree - there is so much selection!

Well my daughter will be almost 3 so I dont think we will be going all day every day at the parks so thats why I was thinking of staying at a nicer resort since we may spend more time at the resort on some days. It would be almost $500 more to stay at Port Orleans, just trying to decide if its worth the extra money that could be spent on something else.

I have stayed at CBR and POFQ and if all those resorts cost the same, I would still choose Pop. I think Pop Century is the most Disney of all the resorts. It is very colorful and to me has more atmosphere then the others. I do stay at the preferred section of Pop 60s overlooking the pool. I am going this August for my third visit.

I really don't think spending the extra money for the mods is worth it, when to me Pop Century is a better resort.

I went POR last September with my fiancee - it was all very lovely and all that and I would rate it over the FQ but it didn't really make you feel like you where at Disney, which I think kiddies ( myself included )would prefer.

This may also explain why we hardly spent anytime there other than to sleep, shower and change!

We're going back this September with 2 more friends (were all 24 - 27 and have no kiddies!) staying at POP this time - i hope its not gonna be too much for the Disney n00bs, but they left me in charge of booking and it gives everyone more spending money!

We stayed at POP last year with my 3 year old. We had originally booked ASMo but since the main pool was being refurbed we moved over to POP. We stayed at ASMo when my DS was 2. I think the themeing of the value resorts are awesome for the preschoolers. There wasn't a better feeling then walking in to Andy's Room every day! We liked POP (we stayed in the 50's building). My DS is a huge Lady and the Tramp fan.

We have decided to stay at CSR this year. MY DS will be turning 5 while we're there. We're just looking for a different experience. And I think my DS will be old enough to enjoy the water slide this year!

We usually are at Fort Wilderness, however, I have stayed at POR, ASMu and the Swan. I think if you can save $500 and have little ones, I'd go with POP. You really are only sleeping there and all the pools have water that is wet!

Remember, you can always go to the other resort restaurants and gift shops - as well as walk around, etc. (Just can't use the pool!) This is what we do on our non-park days. We like to go over to POR Riverroost Lounge (Wed-Sat evenings) to see Bob Jackson perform (great family fun!) ... we also like to go to POR and take the ferry from there to DTD.

Over the years, I have tried to visit each of the resorts. We like to take the ferry from FW to the Contemporary and then the monorail to the GF. We'll get some ice cream from the food court and then hang out in the lobby where they have evening musical entertainment for free.

Lots to do at the various resorts if you are staying on-site, even if you don't have a room at that particular resort!
