Does anyone know what time the Pop check in desk/front desk closes? My flight gets in on a sat evening at 10:15 pm. I assume that we will get to the resort around 11pm or so. I wasn't sure if someone would be working at the desk at this time to check us in. I am paying for that night and just want to check in and put hte kids to sleep.

Also, what do you think they will do with my bags? When we have gone before ME has delivered our bags to our room about 3 hours after we got there. I would HATE to be woken up at 1 or 2 am to recieve our bags. I plan to pack the essentials in my carry on but was wondering if anyone here knows...

thanks in advance

There will be someone at the desk to check you in and you can ask them to hold your luggage at the desk until morning. Hope this helps. Have a great trip!

1) The Front Desk is manned 24/7 at all resorts.
2) Your DME luggage can be held for you.
3) You can also take the luggage at the airport, and have it on your bus.

We always check in after 10 or 11 pm (with a little one, too) and the bright side is that we haven't ever had to wait in line for check-in!!!

Great question, I'll be checking in late too and was wondering about the luggage.

How exactly does it work though, when you get the luggage yourself? Do you just have to wait for a later bus? I've not use ME before

Chances are, if you choose to delay yourself at the airport by going to baggage claim and waiting for your luggage, then you'll miss the next available bus going to your resort and will have to wait for the next one. But it's also a possibility that you'd get on the same bus you otherwise would have. It's just a matter of luck and timing.

For me, when it's late at night and I just want to get to my room and get to bed after a long day, the last thing I want to do is purposely add a delay. This is even more true for me if I'm traveling with kids.

We checked in pretty late ourselves when we went last year in May, and was also worried about our luggage, and no you don't have to wait for a later bus.;) That late in the evening they are usually waiting on the people they know who will be coming in, or until the bus is full. And the good news about getting in so late, is that you won't really have that many people to deal with to check in! Serious bonus!
I called in and asked one of the CM there at the POP what to do, and she suggested we not put our stickers on your luggage for ME to pick them up for you once your at the airport. The CM said that it would get to our room to late the next day (after a certain hour <I think it's 11:00 p.m.>they don't bring it to your room until the next morning and that can be as late as 10 a.m.)for us to be able to change and use all of what we would need for our day since we were hitting the ground running the following morning. She suggested we get our own luggage and bring it to our bus once off the plane and then take it to our rooms ourselves (there are carts that can be used to bring your luggage to the room).
Since you'll need to know where to find your luggage after your off the plane and then where to find ME, I suggest you get a Unofficial Disney Guide book for the lay out of the airport. Once you understand where your going to fly into gate wise and where your luggage will be you'll know exactly where to go once off the plane and then you'll know where to meet back up to, to get to check-in for ME.
You'll probably see the CM with the sign for ME, she will lead you to the area to check in for ME, be sure to have all your resort and ME information easily available, Disney sent everything <resort information, ticket information, and ME information>to use in a nice clear plastic envelope, I kept everything in there so I had it extremely handy when it came time to check in for ME and then also once at the resort.
Hope this was helpful, it's late and I've got a cold  so I hope this wasn't to all over the place. LOL If you have any more questions just ask, there's always someone to help. :flower3:

With all due respect to that CM, she's probably not an experienced air traveler.

Airline passengers should always always always pack a carry-on with whatever items will be needed for the first 24 hours at the destination (including, for late evening arrivals: sleeping clothes, toiletries {within the TSA restrictions} and a change of clothing for the morning) in case the AIRLINE misdirects checked luggage.

Honestly, I've never heard of any Value resort DME-transported luggage taking until 10 AM the next day to arrive at the room. Luggage Assistance reopens at 6 AM, and as far as I know, they start delivering DME luggage (which, by the way, HAS arrived during the night) that early.

No guidebook is necessary for navigating the airport. A much better source would be to Google Orlando International Airport. All planes arrive at satellite terminals, and all passengers are transported by tram to the single-building main terminal, which has a Side A and a Side B. If your flight arrives on Side B, and you were to pick up your own luggage (again, NOT necessary with Magical Express), you would proceed to the level 2 luggage carousels, and then down one more flight to the DME Welcome Center. If you arrive on Side A, after picking up your luggage you need to go back up to the Arrivals level, then across the terminal and down two floors to the Welcome Center.

Well, no. Magical Express documents come from a different location and in a different package/mailing than reservation documents.

I respectfully disagree. They specifically DO NOT wait for a bus to fill up. I'm sure the rule is broken on occasion, but it is the specific policy of DME to NOT wait for a bus to fill up, regardless of time of day. Since buses must leave within 15 or 20 minutes or so of the first guest boarding (per DME policy), then clearly it is possible to miss the next available bus if you ventures to baggage claim first.

Separate from the established rule, I can offer my personal experience. We landed around 10 p.m., went right to the bus area. There were 8 people on the bus when we boarded, and we were 4. So there were 12 of us on the bus. We all sat there on the bus about 10-15 minutes, and then we left, with 12 of us on-board. No one got on the bus after my family. We left because it was time for the bus to leave, not because we filled up or because "the expected people" finally boarded.

if you put the yellow tags on your luggage - that you get with DME - then you can't go get them.

the yellow tags tell the bag people they are Disney - and they are put with others to be delivered to the resorts. they are never put out with the rest of the luggage in the pick up place.

all WDW resorts are 24/7 - now they might be a bell you have to ring. but at 10:15pm - should be at the resort by 11:15pm - don't be surprise if you are not the only one in line.
