Hi everyone! :wave2:
I'm sure someone has already asked some/all of these questions, but I'm not able to search so I was hoping someone wouldn't mind answering again.

I am trying to plan a stay at Pop Century for January 2004 (woohoo! :hyper: ). While I have my preferences as to the buildings I would like to stay in based on themeing alone (probably 50s or 80s), I don't usually like being near the pool due to the increased noise level. Also, I don't want to pay an extra $10 a night just to be next to it. So, here are my questions:

What are considered the "preferred" (more expensive) buildings?

Will there even be anybody IN the pool in January?

Are there rooms with king beds available in all of the buildings (don't mind an extra $10/night for that).

Any building to definitely stay away from? If so, why?

I don't mind walking a bit to get to the bus stop, but I don't necessarily want to be at the furthest point away. Is there a bad place to be because of the walking distance?

I know there were overhead maps/photos posted somewhere on the boards but I sure as heck can't find them now (of course). Can anyone point me to them?

Sheesh...this ended up sounding like the Spanish Inquisition! Just be glad I didn't ask if I could use my old ASMovies mug at the PC! :teeth: Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ok, lets see if I can help...

60's are the "Prefered Buildings" and will be more expensive.

I am sure that the the northern guests will be in the pool in January. We go the 2nd week in Feb and my girls swim everyday. So I am sure there will be some people in the pool at some point.

Somewhere on one of Tyler's threads (Chip & Dale Express), he has posted exactly how many of the 2800 or so rooms had the king size beds. I would assume that all the buildings would have some. This would be a good question for CRO or call Pop Century dircetly.

Also according to Tyler there is no building that is too far from the main building. Go and read the FAQ thread that he started. He stayed there one day last week and if I remember correctly he stayed in the backside of the 80's building and he timed himself to get over to the main building and at a leisurly pace, I think he clocked himself at just under 2 minutes. He also stated that the arial shots are very misleading as to how far away the buildings are from one another and the main building.

There are maps also on that FAQ site as well as pictures of the resort. I am not sure how to get the website info into my message or I would have done that for you so you wouldn't have to search that FAQ thread. Sorry!!!

I hope I was of some help and didn't confuse you too much!!!

girlsx2 - Thanks for the info! Wouldn'tcha know that as soon as I was posting my questions Tyler's FAQ thread got bumped up to the top! Don't I feel like a big ol' loser.

Now I face the daunting task of reading his entire thread...you know, to make sure I don't miss anything. Thanks again!

Anytime...

That thread is really worth reading. There is lots of good info on there and Tyler (Bless his Heart!!) is such a good CM to post all the info he can. Thanks to his wonderful posts about this resort, we switched our ressies and are now staying all week at the Pop Century. I can't wait!!!
