Pop Century updates and Legendary years info!

i dont know if they are, i think preferred rooms are just rooms closer to the main building (less walking) - honestly, just call disney and ask them to make note that you'd prefer to stay in the 70s building. i think the mickey phone building might be building 2 (can anyone correct me on this?) - but you could call and say you'd really like to stay in that room, they'll note the request and likely arrange it when you check in.

Areas of the 70's rooms are considered to be preferred.

This map (sorry for the size) shows you the areas where those rooms are located.

I would hard press to believe the main building is coming down anytime soon. Also some of the features mentioned are questionable. Refrigerators in each room are in the moderates but the values never had them prior, unless you pay, so not so sure they are going to give you anything for free? A curved shower curtain in a value resort? Privacy curtain separating the sink and bed area, again I maybe wrong but I don’t remember this in a value.
If this is all correct, great! Otherwise maybe the bus driver can get us an real update.

The ASsp and ASmu got these after they did their reno.

we stayed in building 5. what a mess stained ceilings, rugs. just a nasty motel 8 IMO. they will have to do allot before we stay there again

Did you talk to management about the room? We have stayed at Pop several times and it has never been "a nasty motel 8". I would have asked to be moved.

I agree. I would have talked to the front and asked to be moved. I would not have stayed in a room that looked like that. We ususally stay at POP. It is my Favorite value resort. We have stayed right by the pool and still could sleep peacefully during the pool hours. I have never seen stained carpets or ceilings in the resort. Now the only problem I have ever encountered was someone previously smoked in the room. I will not have my vacation interupted by that and disney was very quick to resolve it!!

thats nasty - i hope you called!!! Our first morning, while showering - i noticed the top of the shower curtain was lined with black fuzzy mold. Because of the amount, and the thickness of it... it was clear it had been there for sometime.

I called maintenence after the shower, i continued getting ready for my day at the park and i left. When we got back to the room around 3pm, the curtain was changed.

But stained ceilings and rugs? I'd be outraged and would have refused to spend a night in that room.

Allearsnet is showing pictures of the refurbed room. The walls are now blue instead of white/cream. It also looks like the shower curtain is curved.

thanks for confirming what i saw!! as far as the doubters for the fridge, take a look at the entertainment center, the shelving on the left side is easily removable. refrigerators will go there, and that will eventually be a standard.

Maybe the addition of the fridges is due in part to all the storage they were using for the fridge swaps. :rotfl:

I like the look of the new room but I think I will miss all the drawers. Still, it would be worth it if they put in free fridges. I think it would be nice if they built in storage drawers all the way to the floor under the sink area. ( Except for the handycap rooms of course.)

It kind of makes sense to put a fridge in all the rooms. Think of the man hours involved in hauling fridges around the value resorts. Plus, they must be totally fed up with all the swap fridges that are hanging around.

I was there over Easter week and can vouch for all the changes except for the fridge, that was not included in our room. There is a curved shower rod and a curtain between the sink area and bed area as well as the hooks on the wall.

Interesting about the new Animation resort. I wonder if the AAR will use the double Ts that the current value resorts have to make four winged units. Maybe not since it is going to have so many suites and only 10 units. It supposed to have about as many beds as POP. Maybe it will get a different layout.
