We are taking ME to get to our hotel but we need to travel home on 8/30, not before or later than that date. Right now, the SW flights are really expensive to leave that day unless we take a 7:00am flight. I thought about a close airport to Orlando, which is Tampa and the flights are much more accomidating. So my question is, how will we get to Tampa airport and approximately how much will it cost? I don't think ME will take us to Tampa.

Thanks in advance for all help.

Hi,

It's about 90-100 miles from WDW to TPA, so I would think a taxi or car service would be quite expensive. I think you should look into renting a car at WDW on the day of your departure and dropping it off at TPA.

We have left from Tampa a few times and we have rented a car one way and it works just fine. Usually from National at the Dolphin or Dollar at DTD. Has worked out fine and wasn't too expensive...usually about 50-75 dollars depending on the size car we needed and the day of the week.

Arrange for a rental car through Alamo/National at the Dolphin the day before you are scheduled to leave POP. The drive from the Dolphin to POP is very ease...parking lot, take a left, lights take a left, right onto Victory Way, left to POP...takes about 7 mins. Then, the drive to Tampa Intnl takes about 1 hr. 15 mins..it's very easy. Just get on Rt. 4 headed south, and follow the highway signs for the airport. Your car will be returned to an off-site area, but you take their shuttle back to the airport...it's all very easy. The worst part is finding the Alamo office that's offsite!

Have you considered flying out of Sanford, FL? The drive to Sanford on 417 may be easier than I-4 out to Tampa. (about 50 min. to 1 hour to Sanford)

Sanford is a wonderful airport, but unfortunatly the majority of airlines don't use it. But I love being able to fly in there. It's so compact and user friendly.

Rental companies AT TPA are Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, Enterprise and Thrifty. Off site are Alamo, EZ, National, Payless.

For Budget you can pick-up @ the Doubletree and for Avis @ the Hilton. Both DTD.
