Pop Century the first week in December?

We are experienced WDW travelers (at least 15 trips) and are considering 6 nights sometime between Dec. 1 -10 at Pop Century, a resort we have never stayed at (a + for me). We also have a good price quote and since the rooms are being updated that makes Pop Century sound attractive compared to the expensive deluxe resorts we usually enjoy.

I am worried about possible Pop Warner etc. overflow in that time period and the reportedly thin walls between rooms. If DH comes along he would hate group noise outside the room and crowding at Everything Pop. Having previously stayed solo at All Star Sports I had no problems with groups so I am not as concerned.

Anyone have experience with Pop Century in that time period?

yes the kids outside were screaming - not a problem since Pop does not allow them to group book Pop (or did) - they can and will tell them to quiet down and leave the area - sometimes All stars does not do.

just go visit the front desk - don't call - the phone does not go to the front desk but an outside service and they have no ideal what you are talking about.

Anyone else have some input?

We have had 4 stays at All Star Sports during Pop Warner week and would never consider changing resorts because of it. They were not a problem at all. If it wasn't for them wearing their jerseys we'd never know it was Pop Warner week .

We were at Pop from 11/29 - 12/9/17. It was my first long stay at Pop. Previously I only stayed 2x for first night of arrival. My friend has had several Pop stays.

Our priority was getting a new room. We did get new rooms in 80’s, building 7. Connecting rooms as requested. So both our requests were met, BUT Lordy they were really far in the back. It was a trek.
Loved the new rooms. I never heard anyone next to me, and my friend was in the connecting room on other side. She did say when I phoned home she could hear me talking and I don’t have a loud voice. So- if you do get a connecting room they aren’t particularly soundproof. Maybe put a rolled up towel on floor in between doors.

There were Pop Warner groups but CM at desk said they were keeping them on other side of resort in 50’s. Didn’t even know they were there. I only found out because I went to desk to see if we could get a closer room. But Resort was booked. Normally I would have perhaps requested 70’s, but they were closed for the reno. I think building 10 was just partially opened a few days before we arrived.

On our last day I started seeing the Flag touring groups at the bus stops. They must have just arrived Dec 9. Noticed them while I was waiting for The Magical Depress.

We took our resort mugs with us to the parks, have carabiner to hook mug onto crossbody strap. No way I’m going to trudge back to room and then to foodcourt after returning from the parks to get a drink. Did I mention how far we were?

Housekeeping was good keeping room clean & tidy, but bad at refilling coffee, cups, etc. Had to phone a couple of times about refills. Never had this problem anywhere else.

Busses, ugh. Where to start. I’ve had many WDW trips and always felt bus service was good, no matter Deluxe or moderate. This trip we had the worst bus service we’ve ever experienced at wdw. 30 min waits or longer were the norm, I could sorta understand if we just missed the bus, but we didn’t. This was all 10 days.
Normally every trip there’s that one day that there is an extra long wait, but not every day. My friend who has had several Pop stays including one in May said she’s never experienced this awful bus service at Pop.
Hopefully they’ve remedied this.

We have stayed at Pop when there were cheer groups, South American tour groups, etc., and they usually put them in the 80s or 90s section. They probably changed that to give refurbed rooms to all those people requesting them this year. I look for them to change back to putting teams, groups, etc. back in the 80s and 90s when the refurb is done.
