Pop Century Standard or Preferred?

We will be taking our Grandson (4yrs) to WDW for a couple of days on our way to the Disney Resort in Vero Beach. Being DVC members we have never stayed at one of the AS's or the Pop resort. I know that the preferred rooms are the same as the standards and that the difference is the location. Is this something I should be concerned about? What can I expect walking wise from a standard room? Should I pay the extra? Is it worth it?

At Pop, parking is better near the standard rooms. We stayed preferred and decided it was a mistake. The layout is fairly good and everything is pretty convenient.

At all stars..really doesn't matter. Great layout..no realy long walks anywhere.

Me personally it isn't worth the 10/night extra for a preferred room. The walk in a standard room isn't that far and then you know you have more chance for peace and quiet since the pools are open pretty late.

That is JMO though.

Stay in a standard room at Pop. The preferred rooms are only preferable if you want to be right next to the main swimming pool, but the place has three pools so that really isn't an issue.

Another vote for standard. We paid the 10 bucks for preferred last summer and didn't think it was worth it. I think the 50s or 70s would have actually been better.

Definitely standard - wouldn't have swapped our standard, top floor, corner room, lake view in the 70's section for any other location - believe me I looked all round the resort. It was a really quiet location, yet close to the foodcoourt and buses and midway between two swimming pools. Going back again in July.

I am with the rest. standard is all you need. the layout of this resort is pretty much done so that no one has to walk too far. the only concern is the parking lot is only on one side because the lake is on the other. The only time I would ever recommend a preferred room at a value resort would be the all Star Music. The layout is a straight line with preferred first and no guarantee that you can get into Jazz, with it being second. Other than that value, I never ask for preferred. We have stayed at Pop twice last year and both times in different sections of the 50s, and loved each for what they offered.
