Hi I was wondering if there was anyone that has stayed at either the pop century or Holiday inn family suites. We are trying to decide between the two and need some help. Thank you so much

Hi!

It would depend on what you are looking for--we live in CT and fly down-we get transportation right to the resort and take the bus and the monorail-Disney transportation while on site. We don't have to worry about trying to find the park or parking a car-we are they all the time. You get early park admission to some of the parks by being a resort guest. We have never stayed off site. A friend of mine did and hated it. They had transportation from the hotel she stayed at to the parks but they had to be back at a certain time and if they missed the ride-they had to pay a taxi-very expensive. She got a package deal through SW airlines. I love the whole Disney experience staying at the resorts-they really cater to the customer and it is the best! Of course, this is just my opinion------

Just a word of advice from someone who was looking for similiar advice not long ago... with this question posted on the resort board, you're going to get answers that are very vocal in support of staying onsite. If you want more unbiased answers, you should post on the Orlando Hotels board. There are great people here, but they do tend to be a bit fanatic about the joys of staying onsite.

I've only stayed at HIFS and can only give them great reviews. Totally child oriented, free breakfast, a kids eat free program for other meals and lots of room. You need to rent a car if you stay at HIFS; they have a shuttle but you probably don't want to be on their schedule. You don't say how big your family is, but honestly, if you're 4 or less, I'd stay at Pop Century. No need to rent a car and a fun atmosphere, from what I've read. If you're more than 4, the choice gets more complicated. You have to balance comfort vs. the Disney amenities. Good luck making your decision.

Haven't stayed at Pop Century, but have stayed at HIFS, AKL, BWV, WL, Poly, Riverside and Wilderness Cabins. Pop Century is quite close to HIFS. If you have a car and are not relying on Disney transportation, I would choose HIFS. HIFS is really fun for kids, great pool and cute train ride. Plus, we found the hot buffet breakfast every morning to be both tasty and convenient. The kids loved having their own room with bunk beds and play station. The separate king room for parents is great. My parents also went along and had a suite with a separate big screen TV viewing room. We all enjoyed it very much. Once you're far enough away from the parks, I don't think offsite is that much different from onsite, especially since we always rent a car. I would definitely pick HIFS over the Wilderness Cabins, which we found incredibly inconvenient.
