I would like to gvie My daughter (22) and her SO (24) a 1 week trip to Disney for Christmas. We (as a family) have been at least five times, staying at all Deluxe resorts. Since I can only afford a value resort now, which do you think is a better resort? My daughter loves Disney and would be hopefully be happy anywhere. But since I know very little about the value resorts, which would you recommend and why?

thanks so much.

My DD (now 24) loves Pop.

She and I are staying doing a split stay SOG/Pop week after Tgiving. We could have stayed at SOG the whole time, but she wants the "fun" atmosphere of Pop again.

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

Please see my info thread for the reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

Here is a list of differences between Pop and the All Star resorts.

Pop is newer.
Pop was opened in 2003.
All Star Movies was opened in 1999.
All Star Sports and Music were opened in 1994.

All Of the rooms in All Star Music is underwent a refurbishment of and was completed June 2007.
New paint, new capets , A bowed shoer curtain to give more elbow room was added, new Furniture, New bedding, new cutains, amd a privacy curtain by the vaiyty area was added in the Calypso and Jazz buildings

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

All Star Sports is slated to be refurbished between June and November of 2007.

Pop has a lake. The All Stars do not have a lake.

When staying at the All Stars you use any of the All Stars pools.
The 3 All Stars are within easy walking distance of each other.

The gift shops are separate from the food court at the All Stars.
The gift shop and food court are combined at Pop.

Pop has 2,880 guest rooms. 4 floors in each building.
Each of the All Stars has 1,960 rooms. 3 floors in each building.

Both Pop and the All Star rooms are 260 square feet.

The beds at the All Stars are movable.

the beds at Pop at bolted to the floor.

The far bed at an All Star is closer to wall. And the near bed is not as close to the doorway as it is at Pop

The far bed at Pop is pulled away from the wall more. The near bed is closer to door.

For most people that would not make a difference but since I need an ECV
the bed being so near the door at Pop makes it more difficult for me to back my EVC in. :moped:

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I like the all star music better then Pop. There seemed to be much more noisy children at the Pop. Music was much more quiter and relaxing.

I thought I would post here. WE have ressies at SOG in Jan. and I just booked POFQ in Jan. now. Once that AP rate came out..I wanted to stay somewhere different. We love SOG but it

we have done ASsports and Pop and really, really liked Pop, not just for the theming which was absolutely fabulous, but also for the service, mousekeeping, etc - my DS13, last year landed a ball on Mickey Phone and although I said "don't worry about it, its 11pm - if someone could rescue it before we leave (12 days later) that would be fab, but no, they had the entire engineering team with massive ladders up with minutes - If we were on a different type of vacation ie: parks as opposed to relaxing we would be back at Pop in a second. ASsports - nothing wrong with it, just nothing stood out.

are you looking to adopt another child?? :lmao: i wish my parents would give us a trip to WDW!!!! that has got to be the best present any parent can give their kid!!!!! :thumbsup2

We just stayed at ASMu last month for the first time. Before that always POP. We MUCH prefer POP. Better theming for one. We were stuck at the very back of ASMu and the walk to the front was very long. Even if you're stuck at the very back of POP, it is nowhere near as long to get to the front.

I stayed at POP December of 2004 and will be staying at ASMu December 2007 with two of my sons and my daughter-in-law. I had switched from WL to POP in 2004 for financial reasons and was sure that I was going to be horribly disappointed. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed POP. The Christmas decorations were great and the big bowling pins and yoyo's looked great lit up at night.

The reason that I'm giving ASMu a try this year is because of the recent renovations....and I'm one of those who always said "I'll never stay at an All Star". :lmao:

No matter which one you choose, I'm sure that your family will love their Christmas present. Make a choice and don't stress.
