I'm a little confused. How do I get my luggage to my room? I will be renting a car, so should I just check-in, park in whatever lot I'm supposed to park in, and then get the luggage into my room on my own (I will be there alone with my 4yo)? Or do I pull up in front to check in and someone comes out to my car to help unload? I read the FAQs and the luggage is not brought to the room right away. Why is this? Anything else I should know?

Thanks, T&B

If it's just the two of you. Then when you arrive, stay to your right after entering the Resort Entrance. Pull under the Over hang to the right side of the main building (the Porte Cashiere). There cast members will take your bags and deliver them to your room within an hour of you checking in! The reason for this is because we will deliver your bags to your room even if you are not there, unlike a Bell Service. Also the assistance is offered on a first come, first serve basis. So that's why we say within an hour. After you drop you bags off, go and park in the Check-In Parking Lot. After that do whatever you like and your bags will be waiting for you when you get back! If you need something out of them after you check in, you can always come back and grab it before they are sent to your room. Hopefully that will help you, if you have any questions we're all listening. Cast members that is! :0)

P.S. I should be hanging around somewhere Friday, I'll keep an eye out!

Thanks, Joshua!

What is the usual tip for this service? Both for the person that takes the bags out and the person who delivers to the room (if I even see that person).

I'll be the relieved looking mom (I would look relieved because me being there would mean that I escaped our icy Friday forcasted weather) with a 4yo son who is either as quiet as a mouse (Mickey, of course) and quite charming or his normal late afternoon/early evening "witching hour" screaming self. Boy, do I ever hope for the first one. :teeth:

See you Friday...I hope. Please, weather Gods, give us good weather!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

we offered a tip to the luggage assistance person when they took our bags and they said no thanks, none needed, and they just leave your bags in your room even if you aren't there, they even filled our cooler full of ice and put our milk and juice in it even though they said they'd leave it in the fridge and we'd have to come back for it later. I'm sure if we'd pushed the matter they would have taken the tip, but from everything i'd read on the boards tips aren't required so we just let it go.

Thanks, Katrina! I know that there are certain "non-tipping" positions so maybe that is one of them. Joshua, is that the case?

Unlike Bell Services, "Luggage Assistance" is a non-tipped position. If you feel that the service you recieve is above and beyond the standard and wish to tip, you may... however, a tip is neither neccessary or expected. :)

Thanks, Tyler, that explains it. I was reading another thread about how a non-tipped person (I think it was a hostess type person who got food and/or drinks for some people in an outside establishment in Epcot) wouldn't take a tip. A castmember explained that the person couldn't accept the tip or she could get in trouble or even fired. The exception is if the customer insists at least 3 times, then they can accept, but must reprt it to their boss and can then be told to either keep it or donate to charity, etc. Strange. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to get anyone in trouble by giving a tip.

Thanks, T&B

I just found out that my sister is going to drive down and join me for at least part of my trip.

I assume that I should call and add her to the reservation or can I do that at check-in?

Thanks, T&B

We were at Pop Century last week. We left our luggage( just 2 carryons) on Friday for the day after we checked out and went to MK. We tipped $2 for the guy who took our bags for us and $2 for the guy who got our bags for us when we were ready to leave. We don't mind tipping while on vacation if we have good friendly service.

Indeed, a typical non-tipped person can get sometimes get into trouble for accepting a tip and not following the outlined proceedure. Luggage Assistance is the only non-tipped position that I know of that is allowed to accept tips.

Some families have found a neat way around it... Before they left, they printed up some cards (index card sized) that had a picture of Tinker Bell and the words, "Thank you for making our vacation Magical, the ___ family" It's a wonderful compliment to the cast member, and is something we can be proud of and show off to our co-workers and management team. There's also the What Would Walt Do award, of which I am a two time recipient. The website for that is www.whatwouldwaltdo.com

As for your sister, it's always a good idea to add her onto the reservation now, just to be on the safe side. :)

Thanks for the explanation, Tyler. No doubt you will remember us if you meet us. Besides me and a very handsome little 4yo, my sister (17 years my senior) is a very outgoing and friendly sort of person. Maybe we'll bring our Bubba teeth and put on quite a show!!! Don't think I'm kidding... I haven't used mine in public, but she sure has and given her bad influence on me I could be convinced to be pretty silly.

Well like Tyler said it never hurts to add another name before arrival, but if you don't get around to it no biggie. You can always do it when you check-in just make sure to mention it to the cast member. Also if you weren't supposed to have fun you wouldn't be coming to Walt Disney World. Anywho, Tyler and I will be waiting to see you and remember "it's a Great big beautiful tomorrow!"

I did call yesterday and add my sister to the ressie. I guess I'm always a little leary about messing with a reservation, afraid that it will end up cancelling it. Nothing bad happened, though. :teeth:

Fun we will be having!
