Before anyone posts that Disney doesn't have any plans to continue construction right now... that's not my question. ;)

What I want to know is, are there any sketches (online) of what Legendary Years was supposed to look like? Or even just a list of what the different decades were going to have for their icons.

I did find a site that said the pools were going to be a crossword puzzle, a soda bottle, and a roadsign.

Legendary Years would start with the 1900's and end with the 1940's. Don't know where I read or saw this, but I believe one the icon's for the 1920's section would be a black and white Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie. Also I believe that Snow White and the Drawfs would be icons for the 1930's section. You are right about the pools: One in the shape of a Coca-Cola bottle, one in the shape of a cross-word puzzle, and the other in the shape of an interstate highway sign. I have no idea if there are sketches on-line.

I can tell you for sure that the resort will include Crayola crayons, life savors, monopoly, and Tonka trucks. They will also have elements based on Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and the telephone. The main pool will be in 1920’s section in the shape of the Coke Contour bottle, with another pool in the 1900’s/1910’s shaped like a rocket and a route 66 themed pool shaped like a road sign in the 1940’s. The rocket pool may be changed to the crossword puzzle pool. One plan shows the puzzle, the other shows the rocket. We will just have to wait and see on that one. The resort will also include Disney characters from their respective decades, including Mickey as Steamboat Willie, Dumbo, etc..

Here is some concept art of what the courtyard between the 1930's buildings will one day look.

Thanks for all the info! Where did you find out about it? Do you know why they would consider a rocket pool for the 00's/10's? I don't want to sound dumb, but they didn't build rockets that early, did they? :confused3

I am almost certain they will use the crossword puzzle pool. The first site plan had the rocket pool, however I think that was more of a filler until they finalized the crossword puzzle pool design than anything else.

peter11435 ~ I'm curious, where did you find all this info?

Most of this information has been made public by Disney already. Some of it comes from WDW media relations, and disney's media only web site.

I saw a sketch similar to that in my Disney Magazine when they were going to build it.

I will go look it up and see what else they have to say.

That is actualy the same sketch that was in the Disney Magazine.

Yep, I just found it. I actually can't wait for it all to be finished.

Following taken from Disney Magazine:
"The resort's 20 lodges will be home to 5760 rooms. The first three bldgs, representing the 1950's, are scheduled to open in Dec, the rest in 02 and 03." (this was put out summer of 01).

"So guests will encounter a 35 foot tall Tonka truck at the 1940s bldgs, a 62 foot tall brunswick bowling pin outside the 50's bldg, and six huge Rubik's Cubes near the 80's bldgs. A 60x60 foot Monopoly board will serve as part of the courtyard between the 30's bldgs."

"The new economy resort, adjacent to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, is built on a 235 acre site that features a lake created when soil and other materials were "borrowed" for Epcot construction."

Neat to hear the stuff to come and what should be.

No they are not building it now. Construction on this phase of Pop Century was stopped after 9/11 and has not been resumed. Disney has not given out any specifics about when the resort may be completed.
