Hiya,

So here's a question.....

If you are two young adults (as in DFi and me ) and don't mind walking to places, bus stops, food etc too much (I understand that those with young children would prefer to avoid long walks on late nights!) Where would you suggest is a nice building in Pop to try and request?

We don't mind the walks, we are children of the 80s I guess and we are just looking for a bit of peace and quiet now and then (obviously I know it'll be busy and we don't mind kids lol)? So.... nicest buildings for all of that if you really don't mind a bit of a walk is.....?

Also, I'm from England, so please excuse my ignorance but.... how much is appropriate to tip mousekeeping? Please don't flame or get into a debate, just a rough idea would be appreciated!

Cya,

$1-2 a person per day is a good amt. for tipping. Leave it for the maid every day.

Thanks for a quick response! Is there an 'obvious' place to leave it?

Thanks!!

I always leave mine with a little note under the TV remote on the bed. Others make envelopes and put them on the dresser or the bathroom counter. I have gotten some nice notes back when I leave them one.

We usually leave ours with a wee note on the table

Thank ye both! I might sort out some little disney notepaper before I go :)

Appreciate the responses on tipping.... now how about room/building choice?

Thanks!!

Because your children of the 80's (as am I) why don't you go with the 80's building. We stayed in the 50's building and it was great. If I were you I would suggest you ask for a room not facing the pool, it sometimes can get a little loud aroud the pool area (esp. mid-morning). As far as tips goes, if you are pretty neat people (seeing that you have no kids) and there is not for mousekeeping to do. I would leave $1 a day. I have two children and we left $2 a day. Hope it helped a bit, have a wonderful trip, Melissa ;)

Yes, I was wondering about the 80s.... just seems not to get mentioned much by ppl so wondered if it was undesirable for some reason lol. Interesting and useful info about requesting not pool facing - thanks! Will that mean we face a parking lot tho? (Not that big a problem).

I assume we make these requests on checkin??

Cheers also for the extra advice on tipping. I think we'll go with $1 or $2 a day :)

Best Wishes,

We requested and got a lake view in the 50s building (Tramps) on 4th floor, we had a side on view of the fireworks from Epcot but a full on view of the lake. I did enjoy each morning coming out and standing watching the wildlife on the lake and twice watched a large bird of prey swoop down and pick up its breakfast ;)

As there was three of us I left 3$ daily and our lovely mousekeeper Vilma left us some beautiful towel animals in various places of the room which was much appreciated by my 14 year old. The people in the neighbouring room asked how come we got these so I told them about the daily tip which they left out and duly came home to a towel animal :goodvibes

My favorite section of the 80's at Pop is the 9120's. They are just a parking lot stroll to the bus stops (at least 9125 was). Last week we stayed in room 7263 which was a bit longer of a walk. It was near the computer pool and the Roger Rabbit icon. I can't swim so the pool area wasn't a big draw for me but if you like to swim it would be perfect for you. It was also a few twists and turns away from the food court. I also like the 80's songs they play outside near the pool (as I am a child of the 80's, too) which I didn't hear near the 9120's.

We made our requests a couple of weeks ahead of time. If you would like lake side (so you do not face a parking lot) in a specific building you probably should call ahead. If you only do not want to face a pool I think at check in would be fine. I think most people do not want the 80's building because the walk is a bit longer. I have never stayed in the 80's or 90's but I have heard it is a little quieter as well. Hope that helps, Melissa

We requested, and were honoured with, the following: 50's building C (Tramp), Illuminations view, nonsmoking and 4th floor. We LOVED our room location! :cheer2: Since we were facing the lake, it was very quiet in the evenings and early ams. We had a spectacular view of Illuminations every night and didn't have to hear anyone overhead. I would stay in Rm 3433 again in a heartbeat! Have a great trip!

Dh and I just spent 1 night at Pop before moving to WL. Because we added-on our night at Pop at the last moment, we didn't make any requests. We knew we wouldn't be arriving until midnight or so (ended up being around 1:30 am) and would be leaving early in the morning, so it was really just a place for us to sleep one night. Never having stayed in a value resort, we were quite pleasantly surprised! We were given a king room on the 3rd floor of the Lady side of the 60's building -- room 1370. What an excellent location!! We were very, very close to the Classic hall and bus transportation, near an elevator, high enough that it was quiet, etc. We also had a great view of the Bowling Pool. Dh and I spent a good hour or so in the middle of the night walking around the resort and taking pictures. The main pool was just a hop-skip-and-a-jump away. Lovely location. We definitely will be returning!!

Gaspode, when you make your reservation have them note your request on the reservation. I wouldn't wait until check in. If you've already made your reservations, call them back and have them note it.

Have a good time!!! ::MinnieMo
