I mentioned that we weren't interested in one of the high interest rooms because of the excess noise, but now I fear we may get stuck in the "boring" rooms.. LOL- Any families PREFER the 80's/non-preferred rooms and why??

*Still excited for our trip!!

While I don't prefer them, I've never minded being in an 80s or 90s room. They are further from the main building than other rooms, but not by much. Maybe a 7 minute walk or so, if you cross through the parking lot.

They're really not bad at all! We were on the 3rd floor, right behind the computer at the computer pool. It did not even take 5 minutes to get to the main building/bus stops.

We stayed in the 80's earlier this month on the 3rd floor. I found that they're close to the parking lot but not to anything else. It was a real trek to the buses and to the food court. It doesn't seem like much in the morning but after a day of the parks it seems like an endless walk. I prefer the 50's.

Two ways of thinking:

1) After a long day in the parks I don't want to walk any further than I have to.

2) After walking 300 miles all day in the parks, what's another 150 feet.

Which are you? Glass half full or glass half empty? :)

We actually like the 80's building. If you cut across the parking lot, the busses are quite close, same for food court. I keep hearing people say "a 7 minute walk", but this is way longer tht it actually takes. Its just a minute or two - I know when you're tired that couple of minutes can feel much longer!

The farthest away 80's building was a pain to be in, so much so we changed rooms. Moved to the 70's with a lake view and it was much better.

I am not sure why you think the 80's will be less noise than, say the 70's? The building doesn't matter, the floor does. 4th floor is much quieter than lower floors because no one is above you.

Request "lake view" 4th floor for the quietest locations.

As for being far away, like I said, it was a big enough pain to make me ask for another room. It is way more than 150 extra feet... more like 150 yards, maybe more. From the farthest 70's to the bus was about a 11-12 minute walk (so if you forget something and realize it at the bus stop, that is a 25 minute mistake. Which we did, which is why I know how long the walk took).

60's, 4th floor overlooking the Hippy Dippy :hippie: was the best location we have had at the Pop. It was really nice to be able to run and fill the refillable mugs whenever we wanted, took about 10 minutes, tops, round trip. We did not hear any pool noise with our door shut, and there was no one above us so no flushing noises either :) (we got a free upgrade too).

Ug..I will not stay at anything but prefered at POP. One bad room and you can see a difference.

Yes-the back of the beyond is very inconvenient - never again will I take "pot luck" which we did for our last anniversary celebration & the CSM stuck us in the boonies. We weren't the only ones getting lost trying to find the food court, etc. We finally gave up, drove our cars to the front to eat & catch the bus to the parks. This year we've requested a preferred room & I can't wait!! :cloud9: Also bad part about being in the back was the fact that there were tons of uncontrolled young children. I have kids but there's no excuse for kids of all ages to be running up & down the halls in front of the rooms at all times of the day & night. Totally unsupervised!! :confused3

Good luck with your trip whatever section you choose!!

Hi!

We stayed in the 80's last September and we did just what others have said, cut across the parking lot. It is not a full blown lot that you will be crossing, just a strip of asphalt of the main lot (parking is to the right of that from where we were near the Rubik's cube) where the golf carts go to bring the trash that is collected, so nothing long or strenuous. The busses are right there and the food court just beyond that. If you walk the "long way" through the resort then yes, it is a pain. I would say not even five minutes the other way. Go for it!
