Poor service at California Grill

My son and his girlfriend just returned from a short trip. They had eaten at this restaurant before and were really looking forward to it on this trip. My son called me this morning to say that last night's dinner was a disappointment. While the food was good, they felt that they got poor service from their waiter. He said that there was a large group at the table next to them and that the waiter spend all of his efforts on this large group. My son and his girlfriend felt extremely rushed and were never even given bread.
I asked if they complained but they did not. They are young(20 and 19) and I think that many times, waitstaff think that they will not be tipped.
My son and his girlfriend (who works as a hostess in a restaurant when school is out) do know how to tip appropriately and should not be slighed when it comes to service in a restaurant such as this.
I know that it is always more effective to complain on the spot but they are young and probably did not feel comfortable doing so.
Does anyone think it is worthwhile calling the restaurant to let them know that they did not get good service. If I were a restaurant manager, I would want to know.
My family eats at this restaurant on every trip and we are usually at WDW at least 3 times per year.

I can understand you (they) being upset, but just my opinion that it should be handled at that time face to face. It means more, the manager can confront the offender and handle it, and the offender knows you and therefore what they did or didn't do to upset you and hopefully won't do it again.

I doubt now it would mean much, but again my opinion. Next time have them call you, explain the situation and hand the cell phone to the manager and backup
