Poor parents still aren't home!!

I always used to be envious of people who were delayed coming home as it sounded like an extra day (or more) of holiday time. However, it's when you hear about the changes of hotels, lack of information and the uncertainties that it suddenly loses any momentary appeal!

Fingers crossed they get home soon :)

We were delayed, with Virgin, for 36 hours last year

Luckily we did DTD checkin and found out before we got to the airport so went straight to the hotel (Rosen Plaza) and DID get an extra day with little fuss :thumbsup2

DH works from home, and I don't go out to work, so the uncertainties weren't too bad for us but there were some EXTREMELY stressed folk :confused3

The flight was delayed due to mechanical problems though - which was covered in our holiday insurance - so we were able to claim £30 each for every 12 hours of the delay. Needless to say, that £270 went straight on this years holiday deposit :woohoo:

Hope your parents are home now :wizard:

They are home!!

They landed at 01:13am on 14th, instead of 07:20am on 12th!

Normally they would have enjoyed the extra 2 days there, but they weren't even near WDW as they were flying from Sanford, so they were stuck in a hotel with not much to do.

There was a technical fault with the plane at Gatwick, so it couldn't leave (so some poor people have missed 2 days off the start of their holiday!) so the plane never made it to Sanford to bring them home, and then it just went on from there.

They got taken to the airport, then back to a hotel, then thought they were flying 24 hours late, got taken to the airport again, then got bused off to a different hotel, had to wait again, then finally got to the airport for the 3rd time, and finally flew home.

We took yesterday off work and spent the day chatting with them.
They had an amazing holiday despite all the commotion on the way home, and they are trying to find out about compensation.

Glad they are home safe.
I missed them loads and loads!

Glad they got home safe and sound Karen, and it sounds as though, despite the delay they really enjoyed their holiday :goodvibes
