Was watching our local news Monday and Tuesday and they were showing a photo of the geese - in their beautiful formation - flying NORTH! They got so confused by the sudden warm temperatures up here they evidently turned back around from their beginning journey to the SOUTH..:rotfl::rotfl:

This has been the craziest weather ever this year! Now what does that mean for the winter? Better? Worse? Warm? Cold? More snow? Less snow?

I think I heard this is an El Nino year ( "think" - not positive), but I can't remember what that means in terms of weather for the northeast.. Anyone know? :)

I give you credit for noticing! Unless it's sunrise or sunset, I wouldn't know where north or south is!

Poor birdies!:lmao:

No WONDER there are so many freaking geese flying BACK to the pond behind our house! They are CRAZY!!! :rotfl:

Poor geese, but I'm pretty sure they'll high tail it out of there once the cold comes and the farmers finish up plowing the corn.

Still, the warm weather must be nice for you since you said you're going to try and wait out availability for the H1N1 vaccine at the lake house. How is it going up there? Are you alone or do you still have neighbors hanging around?

Because of our mild winters, the geese refuse to leave. They make a terrible mess of the grasslands beside lakes and such. Every so often, they have to cull them and reduce their numbers. In the summer, the droppings are a real health hazard in some of our most beautiful recreational areas.

As of this very moment, the plan is for me to leave this Sunday.. The extended weather forecast for next week is looking like I could be in a jam if I tried to stay longer..:( Drats!

No seasonal people left up here - one nice year-round fella and his GF down on the main road who have been calling in now and then to see if I need anything.. There's also another year-round neighbor up the road, but she works 2 jobs so I never, ever see her.. It's deserted, but nice..:goodvibes

My plan to get the H1N1 shot this week was foiled, but I can't stay here with freezing rain and snow possibly arriving - so - back I go.. I have another appt. for next week and hopefully I won't be running a fever then so the doctor will go ahead and give it to me.. :thumbsup2

Too bad that you have to go this weekend but in Pa the bitter cold is stirring up and you're not too far so it's probably for the best. What are you going to do until you get the shot and immunity sets in?

There is a really good chance that they are just returning from the south for last winter. They probably got tied up in construction delays. This was a big year for it. It's sad that they will only have enough time to say hello to friends and family and then start winging it back to a warmer climate.;)

Pray.. Nothing else I can do.. DD still hasn't been able to get the shot for DGD either, so anything goes.. I can take all the usual precautions - and stay in my bedroom or down in my scrapbook room all the time where no one comes in without knocking on the door and asking permission (there's also a 2nd bathroom downstairs that I can use), but other than that, there's nothing else I can do.. At this point I'm just not going to worry about it anymore (although I still worry about my DGD) because I simply can't stay here "forever".. I guess whatever happens (or doesn't happen) is just the way it's going to go - KWIM? :goodvibes
