We are staying at a townhome in Jan. and I'm trying to decide whether to pay for the pool heating or not. The owner said it is electric heat and there is no cover.

I know there is next to nil chance of us using the pool much if it isn't heated, but I'm wondering if it is worth paying for the heating if there is no cover. Won't most of the heat be lost at night when it is cooler?

Would it better to just use the resort pool? I like the convenience of having the pool at the townhouse though, but just don't want to waste money for heating if we are still going to be cold going in at when we get back from the parks at night. :confused3

You will loose some heat but if the pool is heated you should be fine. The first time we had a rental home there was no pool blanket and it was fine.

Thanks Deb, I think I will opt for the heat then. The owner said the heat is on 24/7 at 86 degrees so that should hopefully keep it warm enough :)

That's awesome they keep it on 24/7! Every place I've been looking they have it on a timer. Where are you staying? (if you don't mind me asking)

We stayed in a house in Feb. and our pool was heated. It didn't have a cover but it was plenty warm enough.

Yes, we too stayed at a house in Feb with heat and no cover. It was plenty warm enough, and it has to be warm for me to swim! The hot tub you could switch on yourself and it took about 15 minutes to warm and that was hotter than my bath!

It's only a 12x12 pool so I'm guessing it would be easier to keep hot than a large pool like the pool homes have.

Personally we could not afford our electric bill if this was the case.

Maybe a small splash pool would be affordable with out a pool blanket I just know ours would not.

Yeah, I didn't understand why they wouldn't want a cover as it would make it cheaper for them

I asked and they said it's a liability issue. Maybe there is a risk if a child got past the safety gate and caught under the cover? Oh well, as long as the pool stays warm I won't complain.

Not sure what the liability would be?

If the pool gate is used how would they get into the pool area to get trapped under the pool blanket?
