Pools reaching capacity?

Disney IS the owner of all the cash stays. They own a percentage if the DVC rooms at each resort which they use for cash sales through the WDW resort. They could, I suppose, opt to not sell those units but during the Covid reopening pretty much those were the resorts open so I’m guessing they didn’t restrict that because they needed to be able to sell rooms.
Right but they could, now, knowing that the capacity of the parks vs the resorts is causing issues (perhaps) start restricting it. That was my point. The person was trying to say they couldn't legally restrict dvc owners from using their points, which I suppose they can't. But they can control the number of cash stays.

Which Disney pools have people had to wait? I am hoping we know for sure what Resorts people are reporting.

Yes. And aurora said that while no o e can legally make them stop selling(like other owners) I would think they could. But I think they probably won’t.

Again, what I am saying is every "cash stay" at a DVC is backed by someone's points, now in control of Disney itself. Some of the points are outright owned by Disney. Some were acquired via RCI tradeouts and similar.

As an owner of the points, Disney can book points rooms, then rent them for cash.

I was suspecting this would be the case at Jambo House next January as the Kidani pool will be closed for refurbishment.

I'd worry less about it next January. First, capacity should be expanded by that point. Second, the relative temperatures and related demand for pool time are not so appealing to so many as they are in March.

Gosh, I hadn't even considered that!
We are staying at OKW over Christmas and new year. Hope pool capacity increases!
I can't imagine that capacity will be limited still by then....vaccinations will be widespread, my state is opening them up to 16+ in less than two weeks and we have been one of the slowest states with vaccinations!

Ha! I second this.

We stayed at Jambo in January 2020. On our arrival day, we had lunch, walked around the resort, and dropped off our bags when we got our room. We got changed and hopped down to Uzima Springs. When we got to the pool, it was 48 degrees. When we went down the water slide, the lifeguard laughed. We were the first people to go down the slide that day. It was 4pm. We also had the entire pool to ourselves.

There were more folks in the pool on subsequent days that creeped into the 70s, but nowhere near the demand in the weeks and months to come.

plus there is only one floor open at Jambo...we are staying there in 8 days and I am looking forward to the quiet!

Just back from Riviera. Main pool was packed a couple of days. CBR guests were strolling over to use the RIV pools.

Riviera is a great example of absurdly small pools for the potential number of guests being serviced as a percentage of room capacity. (not to mention the cost to stay there...yikes!) sure, they're pretty, but WAY too small.

My experience at Port Orleans Riverside and it's crazy overcrowded pools years ago is what finally wore me down to coughing up the cash for Beach Club DVC points. At least when stormalong bay is crowded, there is plenty of room to swim.

Fyi I've been at both Kidani and Grand Floridian this week, with no problem at all at these pools.

Bummer but not surprising. Imo every deluxe resort pool should have a CM scanning magic bands like they do at Stormalong Bay, to keep out crashers. Gates are just too easy to circumvent.

We stayed at Riviera in December and the pool was not crowded at all, but of course, that was December. I'm sorry it wasn't as nice for you.

Any recent updates here on OKW pools and capacity? We are headed down next week, thanks.

We were at OKW from March 27-April 1. On Monday March 29, we got to the pool later, maybe 4-430. It was all open, but there were signs present that indicated earlier in the day people had been on a waiting list. I have no idea what time or for how long.

Has anyone been to SAB recently??
We were at SAB on 4/5 and 4/6. Relatively busy, I suppose, but any waits for folks arriving in the afternoon were minimal (5-10 minutes). We didn't go to the parks, so we posted up in our spot when SAB opened and didn't leave. It was glorious.
