Just wondering if the pools are heated in January and if they are open late as well? I've never been in January and wondering since the parks are closed earlier would like to stay at the park in the day but swim at night. I am worried it will be too cold.

All pools are heated to 82 degree's year round, no gauruntee of how cold it will be when you get OUT of the water.......:goodvibes

I plan on swimming!!! (and if it's cold when I get out, I'll do a warm-up lap of the hot tub :-). Last December (2010) it was record low temps, but I took a pair of sweat pants/sweat shirt....after I got out of the hot tub dried off real quick and put them on and I was plenty warm enough walking back to my room....I guess it depends where you're from and what seems "warm enough"...(but I did have some poor honest souls ask me "Are you from Canada or someing?" .... OF COURSE I AM!!!!

Shih-Tsu is right...all depends on your tolerance for cold. I have been to WDW the past three years in January and way to cold for me to get into the pools. Although they are heated I have found, particularly after the sun sets, that the temperature drops significantly.

There are of course people who do get into the pools but I would suggest some big towels for when you get out!

i went in january last year. coming from boston i was excited to swim in january. we landed in the evening, unpacked - ate and i wanted to relax in the pool. walking to the pool from the room was chilly. but the water was FRIGID.

you can swim, just dont do it at night. i was able to swim "comfortably" during the day.

I would have to agree that it's a personal preference as to if you can handle the coolness in the winter months. I was there two yrs in a row in January 07 & 08. The pool & weather made it too cold for us in 07.

In 08 we attempted the pool one evening and the water was quite chilly & we didn't stay long. We might have been ok during the day when the sun was out, but the evening didn't work for us. Now had we tried the hot tub each time we would have been fine for that.

Hubby actually prefers it tone cold or even snowy out when he uses a hot tub. I have to say, a hot tub in a cool evening when u've had a busy day is a nice thing

We were there in Jan 2010. The pool at Wilderness Lodge looked very inviting and it was a nice sunny day. My husband complained that the water was too cool. The hot tub was perfect! I just wish they would heat the pool water a tad more.

We would not have even attempted the pool, except that we had a 4 year old along and he wanted to play in the water.
