Hi to all! I was planning a day when we're there just to hang out and swim. We have been in Jan. and swam;just wondering anyone's personal experiences on the weather and the comfort of swimming! Thanks!

I stayed at CSR last December. On a beautiful afternoon, around 75-80 degrees, I decided to hang out by the quiet pool close to the Spa. It was lovely for sunning oneself, but the pool was unheated and too chilly to spend any time in the water (although a father and son were having a blast splashing around!).

Another lovely afternoon I went over to the large themed pool, and I did swim in that one. Not heated so much as to make it really warm or anything, but definitely bearable. Lots of kids and adults in that one.

Let me start by saying we're from the northeast, so 75 degrees outdoors feels warm to us.

We went in early December, and the daytime temps ranged from 50-80 degrees. The kids did swim in the pool one afternoon, but it didn't feel warm enough to us to lounge around in bathing suits. There were very few people in the pool.

Several people used the hot tub when we were there, though!

went in Dec for several years. My favorite time to go to WDW. everything is decorated!!!

Dec can have a low in the 60's that morning and by afternoon be in the higher 80's.

my first time in Dec was rather strange. We expected it to be cool. So we were prepared. We saw a bunch of people in shorts with jackets on. I though that was strange. After lunch we realized why - it got up to 87 degree that day - we had to go back to the resort and change clothes.

another time it was in 40's at night and 50's in the daytime - didn't even reach the 60's. later that week it 60's at night and back into the 80's during the day.

so it is really hard to predict. bring a little of everything.

but yes if you stay long enough you can go swimming.

I went in late Novemeber-December last year and would have had no problem swimming during any of the days I was there. It was consistently in the 80's, and with the humidity, it was definitely warm enough to swim.

This is good news! I will be making my first December trip next year and would like to try the pool at CSR.

:santa: Talked with a cast member today about requesting a pool view room, asked him about temperatures 2nd week in December, he said temps average in the 70's to 80's:thumbsup2 , but the pools are heated to 82 degrees, told him that was summer weather for us, so definately wanted to be near the pool:goodvibes .

Excited about the warm weather and a possible dip in the pool....however...looks like I will still be over packing!!

When we went in December it was warm enough to swim several days and even in the evenings the pools were crowded. Most days it was in the upper 60's, low 70's during the day. I thought it got chilly 2 days, high in low 60's, we didn't swim but others were swimming.

Don't expect warm temps. Florida temps in December are very unpredictable. We went 2 years ago expecting 70'-80's and were shocked by the 50's-60's! We ended up having to buy sweatshirts while we were there. You need to be prepared for all kinds of temps. As far as swimming goes, my DDs went swimming in December and loved it! The pool was heated so it was nice in the pool. Of course, when they got out of the pool they were freezing!

I've 2x early December and 3x around Christmas. I'm from the northeast and love to swim. Its been cold and its been pleasantly warm in December. I've never been able to force myself to swim as the water is just too cold! I have forced myself to go in the hot tubs...at least the water is warm! My kids don't mind swimming in the cold water tho!

All Disney pools are heated, but if you are used to warmer temperatures it may not seem so to you.

We have gone swimming in all kinds of Orlando winter temperatures, but coming from the Mid-Atlantic, our tolerance of a little chill is probably higher than for someone from a warmer climate.

One thing I will mention about swimming on Winter evenings, it is almost always windy. That can definitely make it seem colder.

I took my DS the 2nd week of December that year (I assume you mean 2005) and promised him we would go swimming.  It hurt, :goodvibes but I did it out of love. A friend and I had gone the 1st week of December the year before, 2004, and it was perfect weather. I knew to expect unpredictability, but I was apparently too optomistic. ;)

We swim in Nov, Dec and Jan unless it is a cold year - one year we were freezing and spent lots of money on extra clothes - now we travel with zip off pants for the kids (pants for chilly mornings, shorts during the day and zip them back on for cool evenings)! And we always pack a sweatshirt and rain coat! I think I'll need zip off pants too!

The pools are heated and usually the kids and dad swim and I take pictures!
