Pools and weather in February?

Hi everyone, I've been planning our next vacation to WDW since we got back three weeks ago. I really have my heart set on the Contemporary and was planning to go in April/Easter. However, the rates are a little too much for my budget so, February is my next choice. My question's are, how is the weather in February and most importantly are the pools and marina open in February? During my stay in August, we had a lot of clouds that blocked the sun and the pool was a little colder then normal, I can't imagine it being just as warm in February.

Feburary is a great time to go. We went this past Feb (9 - 15) and are already booked again for Feb 2004. Since the parks closed at 6:00 (all except for Epcot), our kids swam every night. The weather during the day was great - mid to upper 70's. However, in the early morning and after the sun went down it was a little cool. Cool enough that we had to buy sweatshirts for the kids. I will bring pants and long sleeves on our next trip. The pools are heated so that helps some. I got into the pool one evening with the kids and it was a little cool for me, but I had just gotten out of the hot tub too. By the way, we didn't encounter any crowds while we were there. The longest we had to stand in line for anything was about 20 minutes. That was all week. Hope this helps.

Well, I know most Floridian's probably won't be seen in a pool that time of year as we find it a bit chilly. I had some friends from Michigan come down in February last year and their clothing ranged from shorts with a sweatshirt to jeans and a tee-shirt. You will probably be lucky if temps get up to 80, but we have had warmer winters. This one is setting out to be typical however.

When I worked at Disney, I was surprised at how many northerners would come unprepared for the temps in the winter months and needed to purchase warmer clothing. This is Florida, but it's not the tropics. Just remember to watch the weather channel a week before you go.

But, if you can put up with not going in the pool, you'll find the crowds a lot thinner than during the easter break weeks in April.

I've never been in Feb, but we've gone in later Jan several times. The pools and marinas are open year-round. The pools are heated and are kept at a nice warm temp in the "cooler" months. The air temps can vary a lot in Orlando in the winter. You can encounter everything from chilly to hot, with the average somewhere in between. For Northerns cooler air temps usually doesn't dampen the swimming with the heated water. Our kids had no qualms about swimming at night with it was in the 50's. They had a blast and the locals just looked at us funny. It's all relative. Another good thing about that time of year, there's a lot less rain.

We always go in Feb. The pools are heated and we always swim. You will see temps from highs in the 60's to highs in 80's. A few years we have even done a water park. I would not suggest a water park unless it is going to 80 -- it is too chilly to be wet all day otherwise. Feb is a great time to go -- NO CROWDS if you avoid Pres. Week.

We have been in Feb many times (see below) and love it! Early - mid feb is best for discount and light crowds. Presidents week will cost you more and be busier. We swam every year except for 1. That particular year I remember one day when it was cold and rainy (we were in long underwear, sweats and turtlenecks) and there were still people swimming in the pool at the dolphin as the steam rose off of it. LOL! We have also managed to do a water park every trip( Except for the 1) but you have to be flexible so that you can go on the warmest day. They do heat the water park water also, but getting out standing around in a wet suit can get chilly if it's not close to or over 80 degrees. And at other resorts, you may find the theme pool not as warm as the quiet pools.

Do plan on packing more. the nights can get cool. I usually wait until about 2-3 days before we go to pack so I can properly adjust long sleeve, short sleeve and pant,shorts quantites.

We went the first week in Feb. this past year and LOVED it!! So much so we are planning another Feb. trip this year! The week we were there we wore shorts and no jackets during the day. In the evening we sometimes changed into pants or wore a jacket. We swam everyday. Now some days were warmer than others, but our 2 1/1 yo wanted to be in that pool everyday! And apparently lots of others did too, the pool always had quite a few people swimming. The parks were absolutley delightful to walk around in - low crowds, nice sunny but no humidtiy weather.
The discounts are great too for early Feb!
