We are looking at a split stay for our frist trip home - the majority of our trip will be at AKV (already booked), but there weren't enough nights available in a 1 BR SV there for our dates this October and want to add on a couple of extra days and try a different resort. We know that availability is tight due to F&W, etc, but we have to wait just about 4 more days for our 7 month window due to the Developer Points rules.

We talked about it at dinner last night to get a family consensus of where we should try for, but now I'm looking to you, the DVC experts for opinions. My wife and I have our own desires about the resorts to try for, but our kids have piped in asking to stay somewhere with a cool slide. We know that we can pool hop to sample them (except to SAB) but honestly that'll be on our agenda next time, right now it's just about staying somewhere new.

SO, if you were to make a recommendation based on pool complexes - which pool/slide do you (or your kids) prefer - and why? We know and have seen the cool one BWV a cool one (though not even on our list due to F&W), and we've seen SSR's - but none of the rest. We talked about maybe going off-site to VB, but my wife nixed that for our first trip.

Thanks!

I would recommend VWL, fellow Hoosier. The main pool there is very cool, as is "Old Faithful." You can take a boat taxi to the MK. I love the atmosphere in the main building - designed by the same architect as AKL. You can bike over to Fort Wilderness. Also, Artist Point has fabulous dining. That's my humble opinion... ;)

My kids LOVE the clown slide at BWV, in fact my 6 yr old son is fighting me on staying at BCV instead of BWV this next trip-he much prefers the BW pool just because of the slide. SAB didn't impress them all that much, they liked it, but they don;t talk about it like they do that scary clown slide! LOL
My 8 yr old daughter is happy with either, but I think has more fun at the BW over the BC because of the slide.

My DD is scared of hights so she won't do the clown slide at BW. We actually like the sandcastle at OKW. The feel of OKW is very different from AKL though. All those pastel colors give it a more relaxed feel. But thats my choice.

Our kids love SAB, but prefer the demented clown slide (as they call it) at BWV over the actual slide at SAB. They liked the sandcastle slide at OKW, because it was "twisty". That's their main focus when judging a slide, "twistiness" over speed. They don't like the main pool at WL, it always seemed to be crowded and the slide was neither twisty nor fast, according to oldest dd. But for just swimming, they like the villa pool there. Haven't stayed at SSR yet, so no opinion on that, but we'll be there in April.

Have a great trip,
Julie
