Poolrat and GoofyFan's Great Adventure- Wilderness in August edition- 8/15 Last day REALLY !!!!!

Wow! What a day! You fit in a lot!!!!!!!

Boo on the battery of your camera dying! But I have to admit it has happened to me a few times ..... then thankfully my DB never travels with less than three cameras for the two of us. :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing the Frozen fireworks. We didn't make it to the US last summer, so I really enjoy all of my friends pics of great fireworks. :goodvibes

Adding to what Pat already posted about our evening:

I usually don’t go crazy with different snacks when I’m at Disney, but it was hot and I had seen someone with one of those big chocolate chip cookie ice cream “sandwiches” and decided it would hit the spot and cool me down some. They are really huge so I was happy to share it. As it turned out, I was very happy to share it…….like Pat said, it was really eh! The main reason is I was the lucky one to get a cookie that was way overdone, and a hard chocolate chip cookie just didn’t work for trying to break through it with a plastic spoon to get a good mixture of cookie and ice cream.

It was a busy time for people seeking food, and we found one of the only remaining tables. A young couple ended up joining us, and it turned out they were from England. Like Pat said, there was a mention of our “British” friend Rosie, and a comparison of home towns as I texted Rosie back and forth getting details to share. The biggest thing was that they mentioned they were heading towards TSMM when they finished eating, and we warned them that the area would be closing early due to clearing everyone out prior to the fireworks. We were well aware of this as we had been notified that they could not honor our late evening TSMM FP+ and in exchange they linked a “use any time on any ride” wild card FP, which is what we used earlier when we rode TSMM.

We were tired so we took up a spot to watch the fireworks early. It seems we took a lot of the same pictures, but I did get a couple of other ones while we waited.

By the time the show started, there was quite a crowd around us. It was nice that they had the big screen so we could see what was happening on the stage, even though we were at the other end of the street.

And of course, as somebody once told me, you can never get enough good fireworks pictures. Of course, these will just have to do anyway………………………..

It was definitely a long day, and we were ready to crash knowing we would be up and out early to check in to our location for the rest of the week.

The Frozen Fireworks look really cute but they must be hard to see on that narrow street.

Boo to no spare battery, but you both managed to get some nice shots. And you are both troopers for staying for the fireworks despite the long day. :thumbsup2

I agree! Super cute picture of you, Pat, at the umbrella! I'd say, "you're cute too, Marv", but that'd just be.... weird. So, Marv, you're just... wearing shOrts- which I'm glad of. And dry.
Yeah, apparently my attempt to do the Rosie pole dance led me to lift the wrong leg............:rotfl2:

Weird, huh? And this from a woman learning to insert the random catheter.......... :rolleyes2

I'm guessing you won, Pat.
She cheats............ ;)

I have a system. ;) I looked the secret "easter eggs" and pretty much stick to my plan. There are a couple of places you and your partner work together to clear and we tried that with the aliens and have cleared them but not very many times.
See, I told you she cheats!!! :(

Wow, I can't imagine the fallout if someone started randomly pressing buttons on the Star Tours geek panel. The poor cast member would probably get into trouble even though they were helping someone.

Oh I was eyeing that kid for a little bit and elbowing Marv at the same time. We were really probably in row 1 and this was at the end of the staging area. It was a close one that is for sure. ::yes::

That kid was seconds from taking down that ride I tell you. :rotfl2: The only thing that slowed him down was that there were so many buttons to choose from he didn't know where to start. :rotfl2:
That was certainly fortuitous because the situation got more than just a little anxious............

Yeah, I expected worse, too. I have to admit, the gold-plated tickets do look pretty cool. Not that I'd ever buy them, but now you have a Christmas gift idea for me. :rotfl2:

I'm guessing there is very little gold attached to those tickets............ And since the price is going down, by the time next Christmas roles around, it would hardly be worth the trouble............:rolleyes1

Loved the fireworks! I can't wait to look down the street and NOT see the big hat. My first view of DHS was without the hat.
I think that was my first view too, but that has been so long ago and I am so used to seeing that hat as I walk in, it is definitely going to look strange the next time I'm there and see it missing for the first time. :scratchin

I'm sad I didn't get the chance to see the Frozen Fireworks, but I'm looking forward to the Star Wars ones that I hope they have. :goodvibes
Star Wars fireworks???

It's a hotel. They'll leave the light on for you.
:rotfl:

I hope Marv wasn't too upset.
NO, not too bad............. :furious:

Thanks for sharing the Frozen fireworks. We didn't make it to the US last summer, so I really enjoy all of my friends pics of great fireworks. :goodvibes
I posted extra..........just for you! ;)

I fell a little behind, what with the happenings with my Pop recently, so I'm just going to comment on your last update.

Ugh, the low battery is the worst! That happened to me in Europe! I completely forgot to charge the battery the night before. Had to use the phone for like 1/2 the day.

I am glad Popadon is doing well and certainly hope he can make the trip even if he has to take it easy.

I just hate that I go to the trouble to charge all 3 ( yes 3 of my batteries ) and never put the extra 2 in the park bag.:headache:

OOOOOhhhh Star wars fireworks :cool1:

It's a hotel. They'll leave the light on for you.

Guess that is better than the a flickering creepy candle ...

Good thing my phone has a camera... :lmao:

I hope Marv wasn't too upset.

He pouted a bit but eventually the fireworks distracted him. :)

Looks like you did as well as you could. Pretty neat to see fireworks in HS.

It is cool, just maybe the end of the street may not be the best place to watch, but it makes for a quick exit.

Nice pictures of the fireworks Pat, even the cell phone ones. :thumbsup2

Yeah, with the narrow street and buildings constricting the view, you kind of wonder where the ideal spot to watch them from might be. We watched them from over in front of the American Idol building back in whatever year it was (2010?) when we there for the PChef night. I think that was a good spot, but we were only there because we didn't want to fight the crowds on Hollywood Blvd.

That sounds like a good spot to watch from. I will say we were able to make a quick exit being at the end of the street.:)

I just hate that I have 2 spare batteries and totally forgot to move them over to the park bag. :headache:

I do hope they bring them back since it was a neat show.

From the end of the street and actually with the hat they are framed nicely.

Yeah I won't be forgetting that again.:rotfl2: I have 2 extra batteries so I can make it through a long day at Disney and/ or have one on the charger in the room and 2 in the bag. To make matters worse I have one battery that will tell me I am low but keep going for a good while, but another will blink and then be dead. Good luck on remembering which is which. :rotfl2:

We stuck it out but we were dragging for sure. :faint:

Ahhh Yes we did have that anytime FP+ because of the fireworks. That is probably why it fit so nicely after our BD break. :)

I really enjoy the Frozen Fireworks and do hope that it, or something like it, continues in that area as it is a very different (and lower) experience.

Bummer about the cookie, at those prices you want a decent treat!

I do hope they keep something in addition to F! Maybe when the "new " area opens. I am curious to see how the absence of the hat changes the area. Then the whole plaza area is open again maybe it will be better.

The ice cream sandwich was not the best. Perhaps the later hour and especially how tired we were had an impact but a soft "out of the oven " cookie would have been great. You shouldn't have to fight with it to eat it. :lmao:

I am hoping stop playing the role of the walking dead sometime this weekend. At that time, I will arise from the ashes of my nursing student life and surface to breathe some DIS!

I can't wait!

See you then.

Thats always my fear about those cookies...being hard...so we have never gotten one yet...But right now as I am dieting and really watching my sweets intake...and hard cookie even sounds good. :rotfl2:

My first post with the new stuff. :scared1:

I bet and I know that feeling. A good cookie makes the sandwich.

Took me forever to even find the right button. :( Just when I was feeling comfy with how to "be back here", they go and change it. UGH!

I know - Marv is really having issues. He has no subscribed threads and well it might take him a while to come back. :scared:

My only thing wonky was my avatar and I got is sort of fixed I guess.

:( I *JUST* found my subbed threads. Took forever. Not sure I'm liking this.

Deep breath and things are coming back up pretty quickly. Post numbers and join dates are back and they weren't when I first logged back on.
I guess I am only calm because I have had too much computer change at work and I guess I am numb. Or that was just worse than this.:scared:

Are they getting rid of the Frozen fireworks? DGD is obsessed with Frozen. We've watched it so much when she is over that DH has woken up in the morning singing "In Summer". :lmao:

I have used this software for quite some time at another forum and once you get over the initial shock, it is actually really great! I hope @GoofyFan1515 will soon figure them out. I don't think it made any difference whether one had subscribed threads or not. They are still in their usual places...

I guess once the IT team has figured out how to fix all the little bugs it will be smooth sailing again. ;) I found the smilies again .... so all is well. :rotfl:

Love the Frozen fireworks pics!! We missed them the day we went because we ended up leaving early, we were tired and didn't want to wait 3 more hours. We ended up seeing some from our resort (POP) so at least we got to see them somewhat.

OOOOH this is funky- Multiquoting was not there yesterday but obviously it has returned. I guess my advice is everyone slow down look around, it is all there just not the way you are used to seeing it.:genie:

I know they extended it through fall. Just looked on DME and do not see it listed anymore. Don't trust me though, it was there the last time I was. :lmao:

Mine were there and my links from my computer worked too although some just brought me to the first page of a report. Luckily I link with page number ( not the same anymore ) and post #. Once I figured out we are now 20 to a page and the post # is at the bottom I could update the links. Now getting an update up might be another story...

I was happy to find them too. :) Much easier to use too. I have had some major computer challenges this past year at work with lots of " new and improved" that just doesn't work. So far this is fine. But I have had little to no challenges.

They were pretty good. We were tired too but I was afraid we would just not make it back if we left. I think we had to kill a couple of hours too. We caught them from several places around property during the trip.
