Is it worth the cost? Debating on getting a pool view instead of a standard view.

Originally I booked a standard at 25% off but the AP discounts came out and I can get a pool room cheaper than what I originally booked. Or I can rebook a standard room and save even more.

Is it worth it? Pictures anyone?

Personally don't pay for a view because we are not in the room enough to justify the added expense however, I do love the pool at AKL and it would certainly beat the view of a parking lot if you were planning midday naps and breaks in the room every day.

We've never stayed standard, but have stayed pool view (as well as savanna view) and I loved it. I liked our pool view just as much as the savanna view and wouldn't hesitate to book pool view again.

To clarify, we won't be going to the parks at all this night. We are only staying at AKL for one night to explore and enjoy the resort over check in and check out day. It's an added surprise to our vacation. For the rest of the time we will be offsite at our timeshare villa.

I'm thinking for one night it's worth having a nice room right?!! It's a 30 dollar difference between the two

(Trying to convince my sister lol she's a hard one to please sometimes)

I did a one night stay at AKL last September in a pool view room and I loved it! I was on Giraffe Trail in the 2nd pod down, on the 4th floor. I had a nice view of the pool and my room was so convenient to everything. For just one night, I think it is well worth the extra cost.

View only means which way the room faces,
it doesn't mean you will have that view ... as I know first hand.

I'm sorry! Which view is that? TBH this view wouldn't upset me, I like the idea of my room being closer to the pool and lobby and if it faces that way I'd like that better than the parking lot I think.

I will just be happy I am in my dream resort for 1 night :3

Pool View.

But reality roof view, it was very loud above the restaurants and sadly most days those balconies were covered with towels. It did upset me because I paid extra for use of the balcony and "view" and could do neither so wasted my money.

Yes, I would be unhappy with that room as a pool view as well. AKL should really call that a standard view, IMO. I'm sorry that you ended up with that as a pool view, HopperFan!
Did you try to get moved or compensated for the difference?

No. It was years ago, when I wouldn't be as vocal as I would now, and prices weren't as obscene. We were doing parks each day but it would have been nice to put the kids to bed and sit out there. Even at night it was too loud with the restaurants, folks dining outside, being the only entrance to pool area. I do agree any room hanging over roofs should be standard. But at least we didn't get that room you could literally walk out on the roof I bet it was a super hot balcony.

We decided at that point it would be standard or savanna at AKL depending on our trips plans. We have had savanna and it's truly the way to go if you can. Sadly we haven't even gone back there to stay. When the kids got a little older and I wanted to return, they did not .... it's not a great place for teens. We still go often to eat and animal watch.

I understand. We aren't vocal as a rule either, and personally, I am generally happier that way. It is nicer when things work out well, but life just isn't always perfect - even in WDW. Fortunately for us, we have been blessed with lovely pool views that we really enjoyed or at least were views of just foliage that were OK.

It is great that you were able to stay in a Savanna view room so that you have had at least one good experience at the AKL. It is a beautiful resort. Hopefully, if you stay there again, you will get a really great room to balance out the one that you had in your picture.

I can see that AKL wouldn't be perhaps the first choice for teens. When they are older you may get another opportunity to stay there again, though. Meanwhile, the food is awesome at the restaurants! Like you, we often go to eat at one of them, whether we are staying at the AKL or not!!

Oh Jeez, that sucks about the noise and all. I know you didn't complain, but I'm sure they would have moved you if you asked. Lesson learned and thanks for the warning
