Trying to decide between 2 hotels, I have a ressie at Tropicana with outdoor pool, the other is the Desert Inn with indoor pool. Have never been to Anaheim and I keep hearing about June gloom--does that mean it's not enjoyable to swim because it doesn't warm up enough. We're going June 11-21, planning lots of time in DLR and a few day trips away (zoo and a water park). How much do folks use their hotel pools in June? I thought we might take afternoon breaks at least a couple of times. I've heard the Tropicana pool isn't heated and I have no idea what the Desert Inn Pool is like except it is indoors.--not sure if it's temp. regulated or not.

Thanks,
C.

Like a lot of places, our weather has been weird this year - more rain than usual and later - 80 one day, 55 the next. But normally i would say you should be able to get some swimming in. It's usually warm in the afternoons - probably 70s maybe even 80s

June Gloom happens in the morning, it's normally gone by 12-1, at least that's been my experience. It did burn off a bit later a few times but it clears away. Pool time is good in June, the pool we usually have access to (Peacock Suites) is covered but heated so we can swim anytime if we wanted to. :) I liked the Tropicana pool the times we stayed there but I've never stayed at the DI. :)

It also depends on what climate you're used to and since I see you're from Alaska I would guess that the weather in June will most likely seem warm enough for you to want to go swimming.

Good point! Here in Sitka our summers are usually in the 60's! :)

I did wonder if the indoor pool area at the Desert Inn was muggy in the summer because it's indoors--guess I'll give them a call.

I have stayed at the Desert Inn and did not care for the indoor pool. It is very loud, since it is walled in. Also, it is humid in there like being in a steam room.

I haven't been to the Tropicana.

We are from Montana and swam when we went to Anaheim in December last year...coming from Alaska you should have little need for a muggy steamy dirty (based on other comments made here not personal experience) indoor pool... Enjoy the California weather be outside!... After the fog (June gloom) burns off in the morning the weather should be warm enough for you in June.

If it's just based on pools I would stay at the Tropicana. If it's cloudy in June you probably would feel less like swimming than when it's sunny and warm. So you'll enjoy being outside, rather than packed into a small loud indoor pool room.

Aside from that, a FYI, Desert Inn can have tight or terrible remote parking.
