Since this is something I have never needed to know, I haven't paid attention so far. But, I'm planning a trip with my adult dd, and she seems to feel that the best part of any vacation is sitting by the pool, enjoying a nice frozen adult beverage. We're planning on staying at BW but I could stay elsewhere. So...what's the story on poolside beverages of an adult nature? And do any of these spots actually bring the drinks to you, poolside??
I can't believe I have to ask this....this kid really needs to get a life. She actually asked me what I do to relax at WDW!!!! I sure as heck don't sit by the pool drinking :lmao: ...way too many othe things to do. But, I figured I would ask you guys since I'm sure some of you like to vacation the same as she does.:drinking1
Of course, I may take her around WS and let her drink her way through the countries!!!

Not sure about BW but WL has a great outside bar with frozen drinks to die for. My DH had a nice bill from that place over mothers day weekend! Go figure! LOL

There is a bar at BW that has adult beverages. Not sure about service. I have seen it at YC/BC however. IMHO the best "service" at the pool was at the Swan/Dolphin. Otherwise plan on hiking over and getting it yourself.

Yummmmmmyyyy - I love WDW for both - all the fun in the parks, and then letting dd swim while I enjoy a frozen specialty drink before settling in for the night. Nice way to wind down & relax after a day on the run. Swim/lounge by the pool, drink in hand and enjoy the atmosphere.

Enjoy!

On our last trip we stayed at the WL, and by far the most relaxing times were poolside with a frozen daquiri in my hands.

My DH and I could either sit at the bar (which really is right next to the pool) and watch the kids, or just walk a few steps to our loungers with the drinks.

We also loved that the food court was just a few steps away from the pool as well. The kids brought their mugs to grab sodas, and grabbing lunch or a snack was easy.

Leaping Libations pool bar is right next to the Boardwalk pool. They have a selection of frozen concoctions. You won't get your drink delivered, but it's really not that big of a deal to walk over to the bar.

Chrissy can definitely get her liquor fix at the Boardwalk pool--just make sure she wears that sunblock, Di. hehe

Oh, and definitely take her to Mexico to get a frozen margarita. Yummy.

Yeah, we had that 'sunblock' discussion today!!! After her sun fiasco of Jan, I think she has learned that little lesson. Definately heading to Mexico for that!!! I think that if she wants a frozen drink, she can darn well stir her stumps and get it herself!!!
Thanks guys....I always have just a bottle of water when at Luna Park..never worried about anything else!

Your DD likes to vacation like I do!

I second what CarolA said...had great service at the Swalphin pool. DH and I were there on our anniversary trip, sans DD, and we spent every afternoon by the grotto pool, sipping mojitos!

Hi Diane :wave2: (Hi Rolls!! :wave2: )

The only pool that we had waiter service for was at the Grand Floridian. This was on our 2001 trip, so I'm not positive that they still offer this service. Personally I've never found it to be a nuisance to get my own pool drinks, especially because I like to check out each resort's drink menu to see if something different looks good. To this day, the BEST pool bar drink I've ever had was the "Nyami Nyami" at the AKL pool. It tasted like a frozen banana split and is made with a liqueur from Africa called Amarula. What I wouldn't give to have one right now!! LOL Here's a pic, it's the white creamy frozen drink on the left:

Mmm...I love Amarula! I'll have to order one of those when we stay at AKV next year!

Regarding BW's pool-side bar, Leaping Libations, I was never at the pool area earlier than 10:00 p.m. by my estimation, and the bar was always closed by then. Does it always close so early?

Does anyone know if there is a poolside or near by at the FW Cabin area or only over at the lodge? Thanks

Amarula is awesome! My DSis went on Safari for her honeymoon and brought me back a bottle from Kenya. Good Stuff! I can't find it anywhere around here (PA) and I've been begging her to ship me a bottle from the UK.

There is a poolside bar over near at the Wilderness Lodge. IIRC they make a good mai-tai like thing with rum.

Let's see, I've had delicious cocktails at the following:

WL, I forget the name of the pool bar

POR, the bartender was great

SSR, awesome

GF, elegant

Y&B, I think this is Hurricane Hanna. We sat on the beach. Aaah......:cloud9:

Pool Bar-hopping would be something fun to do next time. Great idea!:thumbsup2

Have stayed at BW a few times - they have a GREAT bar. Don't deliver, but the pool area is not that big, more round than long. Not a big deal to walk to it. The bartenders have been there for years, get to know everyone well and even know what you will order after a while. Best drink at the BW - the Ferris Wheel - some great concoction of rum, triple sec, cranberry, oj, etc...:thumbsup2 But if your staying at BW - and I assume your DD is 21+, she has great selections to relax and unwind. Stroll on over to Jellyrolls or Dueling Pianos - ESPN is the other way on the boardwalk. Also, DON'T MISS the Grey Goose slushie from France!!!
