Pool Showers

I've been researching a lot of the hotel pool areas to figure out the shower/changing room situation. We will have a late flight and will spend the day at the pool.

My question is to anybody who has done this, are the pool area showers (both men's and women's) private or is it just a shower curtain and an open changing room? Privacy is preferred, especially when I have to get my three year old cleaned, dried and dressed as well and modesty goes out the window. We don't have much of a choice here, so I'm wondering if I'll just need to suck it up.

The only previous shower/changing room that we've used was typhoon lagoon, which WAS private for the women's and NOT private for the men's.

It may depend on the resort but I've never noticed pool showers/changing rooms at any of the resort pools. Maybe there are, but I think they expect you to do that in your room. I understand that you will be checked-out so you won't have that as an option. I have seen people just use the lobby restrooms to change for the pool. They may have facilities at the Deluxe resorts, but I'm not sure.

POFQ has showers in the restroom by the pool. Most places I've stayed at Disney do.

Ah, okay. I wondered if the resorts with the larger pools maybe had them. I have never noticed them at any resort though, even Port Orleans (though I stayed at Riverside - it was a while ago).

PO Riverside had a shower and changing room at the main pool. It was okay. Bring in lots of towels to put on the floor and wear flip flops and you will be fine. Not sure about the quiet pools.

The best one I have seen is at AKL Jambo house I know Kidani had them as well but I remember Jambo house being a very nice setup. I do not recall other resorts but I never really looked for them.

All-Star Sports and All-Star Music have installed the nice lockers shown below at Surfboard Bay/Grand Slam/Calypso/Piano in place of the "wall" of small coin-operated lockers.

The new lockers require no fee and are "code activated".

The new area is also stocked with towels.

There are 2 Showers and they do just have a Curtain.

Beach Club/Yacht Club has shower rooms near the BC entrance to the main pool. They have three separate rooms, women, men, and unisex. The unisex shower room is a single room with a bench, shower with a curtain, a sink and toilet. The door can be locked. The women's shower room has two showers with curtains, but no where to change except in the wet shower stall. There is also a toilet stall. I haven't checked the men's shower. Pictures of the shower rooms are on the first page of the YC/BC facts thread.

The shower room at the Wilderness Lodge is at the quiet pool. There is a mens and womens shower inside each of the bathrooms. The shower at the WL is similar to the unisex shower room at the BC/YC.

Old Key West has more of a locker room kind of set up. And I think so does the Grand Floridian.

All of the deluxes have a dedicated shower area. Has a common area for changing, with lockers, then several private "stalls" with a curtain for a changing area, and a second curtain for the shower area.

We have used almost all of them over the years as we usually spend the day of departure at the pool before we head home.

Not sure if you consider SSR a deluxe (as it really is a DVC property not a deluxe hotel) , but it does not have a changing room just a bathroom. We recently stayed there and used the pool on our last day. We just changed in the bathroom and didn't do showers.

I seem to recall that Boardwalk had one like you described but the other was designed to be accessible and did not have the second curtain with changing area. (Women’s locker room.)
