At what age can a child go to the resort pool alone? At what age can a child be responsible for a younger sibling?

Sometimes, I like to send the kids on ahead so I can unwind a bit in the "cool" of the room.

I know there are signs about the age of kids unsupervised...I thought 10 or 12rang a bell, but I'm not 100% sure.

I think it depends on your kids. Can they swim well? Is 1 eleven and the other two? If that's the case, I'd have a hard time letting an 11yo monitor a 2yo at the pool. JMHO though :)

If they are 13 and 10? Perhaps for 15 or 20 minutes it wouldn't be an issue IF both children can swim.

One is 15 (and I know that one can go alone. She's ready for lifeguard training next time it's offered). The other is 12, but looks 9 or 10. She could definitely be questioned. I can't imagine she'd go without her sister, though. She can also swim (Red Cross level 5 card).

I've been to hotels where kids have to be 14 or accompanied by someone over 18, but those have typically been no lifeguard on duty places.

As others have said- you know your own kids but IMO- given what you stated above, I'd have no issues with letting them hang by the pool for even 30 minutes while you take a moment to relax.

I grew up with a pool in our backyard that went up to 11 feet. I know it's not the same thing but I often had friends over at 14/15 and my parents would head grocery shopping and not think a thing of it. I was also a great swimmer with lifesaving training and the like.

Heck, at 12 I was given a stern warning to return at xyz time, and let loose in many theme parks including DW with friends! Granted that was over 15 years ago, but still.

You know your kids best, only you can make the decision! Have a great time!

I agree here. We were at the Poly in September and my 2 DSs were 12 & 14 but I still didn't feel comfortable with them being at the pool alone :worried:. Maybe I'm too overprotective, but even though they are older, my comfort level just wasn't there. I think it all depends on how comfortable you are and whether or not you'd be worrying the entire time they're at the pool without you :confused3. Just my opinion ;). Have a great trip :cutie:.

Oh, I'm totally ok with them being there without me for a little while (as long as they're together). I just wondered if Disney had age policies posted. We don't want to break any rules.

I'm 99.9% positive that the signs said under age 12, need parent. Someone may be able to confirm this.

Yeah, I remember when I was 12 or so, my parents let my kid sister and me monorail over to the MK and to the Contemporary to watch a movie in the little theater they used to have there. Good times! :woohoo:
