We will be staying at Riverside in February 2014. I want a room with the pull down bed. But i dont know if we should get a pool or preferred room. There will be 2 adults and three kids ages 9, 4 and 2

I'd go with preferred. Riverside is a large resort but it has quite a few quiet pools. So you will most likely be close to a pool but without preferred you may be a long way away from the main swimming pool, restaurants and first bus stop.

Agree with the PP- get a preferred room. It is the only way you are guaranteed an AB room at present. Since your youngest child is under 3, you could still be placed in the Mansions section if occupancy rates are very high during your stay.

I to would go preferred. For some of the same reasons, you will have the pull down bed which is only offered in AB, also I could be wrong but non of the rooms that I am aware of have views of the big pool, Do They, I'm blind but to me they all seem really far from the big pool, so your pool view is the small pools that are places around POR and would not be a great view if you ask me. If you need to be close to the pool when kids swim, what I always do is use the laundry rooms when the kids are swimming and use the quiet pools the laundry room is right off the side in AB section and I can kill to birds with one stone, have them swim and get my laundry done and the on a different day do the larger pool. preferred will get you close to buses, which is a big plus, once in a mansion in the back and it took us longer to walk to the buses than it did to walk to pofq for dinner. You don't want to walk that far when you have little ones. Also if you go to a bus stop that is not the main one, the buses will be full before they get to you and then with stroller you won't have a sit. Go preferred.

Another vote for preferred...stayed at Riverside for the first time a few months ago, and while I loved the resort it would have been nice to be closer to the main building.
