We took full advantage of this perk last week in the heat and LOVE it! We gave up on parks when it got to be so hot and, while our pool at AKL was great, we were looking for more variety and tried some other ("legal") pool options. It was great!

Where did you hop?

I loved the pool hop option when I bought in 1998. Then never pool hopped. I think I will this next trip before Disney says "No more pool hopping".

We spent the better part of day at Boardwalk's pool. My kids loved the slide. We also spent a few hours at the Polynesian pool. We were given wristbands to wear here. Boardwalk didn't require them (it was pretty quiet). We might try other pools next time. Mixing it up was kind of fun for my kids--and I'm happy at any pool where I can cool off and then sit by the pool reading my book. You just have to watch the blackout dates and, of course, there are some pools where pool hopping isn't allowed.

Glad to hear the Polynesian is going to wristbands, it is long over due and hope this spreads to other pools.

Do you get the wrist bands at the pool? Seems like we got them years ago when we stayed at BCV.

When we walked onto the Polynesian beach and found chairs (with our backpack), the lifeguard approached us and asked us for our room keys. We said we were DVC and were pool hopping (and showed her our AKV keys). At first she didn't fully understand, but then went to ask someone and came back with wrist bands. We would have found the lifeguard ourselves once we had set our things down---but she came to us first.

Would reduce overcrowding! In my opinion, not fair when guests are paying higher prices to stay deluxe, like Polynesian and others infringe and use pool for free! Great that Poly now has wristband system to limit overcrowding! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

For Stormalong Bay they always give out wrist bands I think. It's also one of the pools you cannot hop to even as a DVC member, if you're not staying at YC or BC(V)

Last week they were very strict about SAB admission. You needed to see a valid room key for every person to get wrist band.

We did a monorail pool hop while staying at BLT last time. We hit every pool on the monorail over the course of the week. BLT, Contemporary, Poly, and both pools at the Grand Floridian. We'd only hopped once before to POFQ when relatives were staying there and we were at SSR. It never seemed worth the bother other than that because the pools at the resorts we were at were just fine. We really had a ball doing it around the monorail line, though.
