Just want to make sure I understand.

We are DVC members at BLT.

We are checking in to POP Century 3/10 and then moving to BLT 3/12 to 3/19.

As DVC members, can we use the pools at AKL on 3/11? I know BC is off limits unless you are staying there, any other off limit resorts?

You can only pool hop when you are staying on points at a DVC resort, so you could not pool hop until 3/12. Also, the pool at Kidani is off limits.

Actually, BOTH pools at Animal Kingdom are excluded from the pool hopping perk, unless you stay at either Jambo or Kidani of course.

Also, the BLT pool is excluded. However, I think the regular CR pool is not.

Also no hopping to Stormalong Bay at BC/YC and no to Dunes Cove Pool at BCV.

Whenever you are staying on your Membership at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, or The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you and any Guests staying with you, are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World® Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity.

. . . . .

Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas. There are no exceptions to this policy.

I believe this means if you are staying at a DVC resort on cash as long as you made the reservation through MS you can pool hop.

The MS website also mentions there are restricted dates, but does not show the dates beyond January 2, 2011.

Is the week after Easter typically included in the black out dates? We'll be staying at BLT then and we would love to pool hop over to the Poly one afternoon.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is also no pool hopping to BLT. Our favorite pools to hop to are Poly and Coronodo!

You are correct, it is not permitted at BLT's Bay Cove pool but it is allowed at Contemporary Resort.

Thanks. Too bad we can't hop that week, I was looking forward to it.

We will be staying at AKV (Jambo) next month. We were lucky enough to get a value studio. Are we able to use the pool at Kidani? We stayed there before and loved it.

When staying at AKL or AKV you may use either pool- they are both considered to be the pool at your resort.

Seems like alot of pools are not included. Plus the resorts are spread out over the property. I don't know how much hopping you can do. Also all the pools look pretty similar.

In reality there are only 4 major (not quiet ones) that are excluded - SAB, BLT and both at AKL. Great pools to hop to are Poly, CSR, GF, WL, 2 at POR, OKW, CBR, SSR and I might be missed 1-2 more. We have been in every pool except Kidani Village; not all were from pool hopping. BLT isn't anything special in our opinion anyway.

We are the pool hopping kings and queens here. We can spend a day hopping around the monorail and then ending the day at WL. Or pool hopping down the Sassaguola River (sp?) Spend a few hours at each pool and eat at different resorts. On a 10 day trip we only spend 2-3 days in the parks and love the adventure of trying other pools. Even now that our DD is in college and the boys are in HS, they still love to hop around.

We are respectful when we hop though. Only take enough chairs that we need (usually one less than the people we have), don't stay the whole day, clean up after ourselves. I think we have called ahead 1-2 times and they have always said come on over. Never stayed at pool that was crowded, never been asked to show ID or leave.

On our last trip the boys got to swim at both the Poly and SAB at night during Easter Week when it was not allowed. Happened to be out and about with their suits on and the pools were practically empty. I think SAB had 5 people in it and they let the boys swim. At the Poly, we went for the fireoworks. DH and I had drinks at the bar and the boys swam with about 10 others. They also could have gone swimming at Kidani if they had been with us. DH and I went to go check the resort out about 5ish and had a drink at the pool bar. I think there were less than a dozen people around. If the boys had been with us, I would have asked if it was OK, but they weren't with us. If the lifeguards had said no, I wouldn't have worried about it and went on our way.

Each pool has something different and are really nothing alike. Our family likes WL and CSR the best. I think SSR and the Poly are a close second.

On our stay in October, the pool hopping perk was really useful! The day we went to DHS, the park was really full, so shortly after noon, we decided to leave the park and spend some time elsewhere before returning for our dinner ADR and Fantasmic afterwards.

So we took a boat over to the Beach Club, had lunch at Beaches & Cream and then went the quiet pool, just letting the feet hang into the pool, cooling off and relax on the lounge chairs.

So even if you don't have your swimwear with you, hopping to a nearby pool from a crowded park can be a good idea. And usually taking less time than returning to the room to take a nap.

It was wonderful!
