What should I know about pool hopping?

Next month I will be taking a well needed RELAXING Disney Vaca with some of my girlfriends. We are single girls in our early 20's, who have full time jobs and are currently working on our Masters. We are planning to minimize our time in the parks and maximize our time lounging by the pools by day and hitting up the lounges and night spots by night.

We will be staying at BLT on my DVC points. I thought it would be fun to pool hop to Poly and the GF during our stay for a change of pool scenery. Do they just need their room keys and me my membership card?

Yes, their room keys should indicate DVC on them. Also, it is often a good idea to call ahead to double check to make sure the pool is available (not too full or under maintenance). But in September, you really shouldn't run into any problems with either of those.

My only other comment is that many of the pool CM's seem to know NOTHING about DVC pool hopping privileges. If you run into one of those, just take a breath and ask to speak to a manager.

Sounds like a fun trip. Enjoy!

Thank you! We will definately check with the resorts ahead of time. I cannot wait to be laying pool side with a fruity drink :drinking1

Even the managers don't always know about DVC pool hopping.

We were at the Poly one evening last week and thought we would let our son take a quick swim in the pool. The CM at the front desk looked at me like I was crazy when I ask if it was okay then went behind a door to ask her manager. She returned and told me we either needed to swim at our own resort or another DVC resort. She went on to explain that the Poly wasn't a DVC resort so we couldn't swim there, we were only allowed to hop to other DVC resorts. I wasn't going to argue with her because it wasn't a big deal but when we got back to our room I checked the Portable Perks book (that I wish I had had with me) just to prove I wasn't misunderstanding our perks.

Thanks for sharing your expirence! I will definately be sure to pack my portable perks in my beach bag just incase I need it to assist the CMs with clarification. I'm usually a comando tourer because I try to treat my family and friends to Disney trips. Many of them it's the first time in the world. It's going to be sooo nice to take some relaxation time in my favorite place in the whole world.

We go to the DVC kiosk in the lobby when pool-hopping at the Poly or GF because the CM there understands the perks!
