Yes pool hopping:) You read it correctly:rotfl: I am so confused. Can we or cant we????? If we are staying at Pop and we are having a free day and are starting the day by having breakfast at Kouzzina can we pool hop to the scary clown pool at Boardwalk?

Disney's policy is...hotel pools are for guests of that hotel only...no pool hopping allowed.

Does it happen?

Yes.

You're joking right? After over 5000 posts:confused3 If you want to swim with the scary clown you'll have to pay the $350 a night to do so.;)

Yes Iv'e just been owned lol.....:lmao: I thought I could show my dvc membership card and I cannot even do that! oh well :)

These are the rules taken from the official Disney Site.

No guests are allowed to use the pools at other resorts, with the following exceptions:

Guests of the All Stars resorts may use any pool at any All Stars Resort.

Guests of Port Orleans may use any pool at the Port Orleans Resort.
Disney Vacation Club members staying at a DVC resort on points may pool hop to any other resort pool except Stormalong Bay (unless they are guests at the Beach Club Villas) and the Uzima pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

No I am not joking...play nice please:hippie:

I have never pool hopped in my life (actually that's not true...we hopped from POR to POFQ one day) that is why I am asking:idea:

Never done it--never would. I guess I am usually pretty happy meandering to the pool at the resort I am staying at. Not sure I could be bothered to hike to another..:confused3

We have done it. A couple years ago the kids went on a disney kids pirate cruise at CBR ( we were staying off site). We had swimsuites with us since the resort we were staying at (Orange Lake) has a waterpark onsite (but it was located very far from where we were staying at Orange Lake). We were planning on doing the kids pirate cruise and then going right to the waterpark at orange Lake.

At the end of the cruise the kids were given "loot bags". In each loot bag there was a smal printed card that said something like " please feel free to spend a magical day enjoying CBR" (or something like this). I asked the CM who was running the kids pirate cruise if this meant that the kids could use the CBR pool after the cruise and was told " YES, definately" . So they did.

I have always agreed with that theory. However we have a brekkie adr at Kouzzina then free time till we head back to POP to get ready for MNSSHP. I posted on the resorts thread for ideas to keep ds6 entertained before we head back to POP since we cannot pool hop (which would have been nice in this case):goodvibes

That was a nice little perk:thumbsup2

We are DVC members... and we don't even use the perk. However, I have witnessed on more than one occassion where families have been caught pool hopping and been escorted from the resort by security. How embarassing!
The most recent was at the POLY.
I think the idea of the Room key swipe to open gates that they are now using at AKL Kidani and CR pool is going to catch on eventually ...

Don't you mean they are doing that Bay Lake Tower? Although I would not mind if they also did start doing that for the Contemporary pool.

Yep... I meant the new pool at BLT... but as a life long disney person... I can't seem to not call it the Contemporary still since they did remove some of that resort to build the towers.

In terms of hotels and their pools... you get what you pay for. If one wants to have the ability to be in walking distance from their hotel to a park... one pays for it therefore, being able to easily go to and from their resort for a pool break before continuing their day at the parks. Therefore, I believe that one should pay the same amount of money for a hotel room at the resort of their choice in order to use that resorts pool. Why should someone who pays a fraction of the price to stay at a value hotel benefit from the pool use at a resort that someone else has saved and paid more in order to get those perks??? Even if it is just a mod resort! I think that kind of behavior is dishonest and greedy. I want my kids to learn that if they want something more, they have to work hard to pay for it. We started at a value and have moved up over the years, eventually owning DVC. But if we do a quick trip and stay at a value... we use a value pool.
OK... let the flaming begin!
(This is in no way directed at Drag n fly question or responses. It is just my opinion on the whole matter in general!)

I can see why you would make that mistake with their names.

I agree:thumbsup2

Pool hopping is something that I have done every time I have gone to Disney world.

I am a DVC member however, so I have never really had an issue with being allowed to do this. The only time I was not allowed to "pool hop" was when I was staying at Saratoga Springs Resort and went over to Beaches n' cream at the Yatch n Beach club. I was planning to stay at that resort for a little while and enjoy the sand bottom pool, but that wasn't happening as they had security walking around asking for room keys to prove that you were a resort guest. At that point, they would hand you a wrist band (if you were a resort guest) and those who didn't have a wrist band were allowed to enjoy the resort and the pool side, but were not allowed to enter the pool or the slide.

We are not using points for this trip so we cannot hop as a DVC member unfortunately:guilty:

Hi,
We are DVC members:banana:. We love pool hopping! We usually have the dining plan so when we eat at other resorts we use the pool. We pool hop whether we are staying on points or not. The only exception is Beach Club. I pay my annual dues every year so if I want to use that priveledge-- we do because it is a perk. I have never found the pools too busy. We only go to disney during "slower" times of the year. I may feel different if it was very busy and I didn't use the pool at my resort because it was too full. Having said that....try the pool at the new Kidani village its great!! We had room keys but the gate was unlocked 3 times--maybe they only lock iit when ts busy.

Double agree. Last year we stayed at the Poly and the BC and the pools were very crowded. If they allowed pool hopping there wouldn't have been elbow room in these pools. We would not have paid the $400+ we did for the room. This year we went the middle ground and are staying at POR as we wanted a nicer pool than the value but didn't want to pay the big bucks for the deluxe. FYI - at the BC you have a wrist band which you get my showing your room key.

As a DVC member as well, I have been told by MS several times (although I've never even asked :confused3) that pool hopping is allowed as long as you are staying on a DVC resort and are DVC members with a few black out dates with the exception of SALB, AKV Jambo and Kidani pools and now BLT pool.

We have never pool hopped since it's not really worth the trouble of going to a different resort to swim in the pool. I like the fact that once you're done at the pool you can quickly (and I say quickly since the AC is soooo cold) go back to the room. I guess I don't see other pools that much more appealing than the one at the resort we stay in.

I do find that the CMs are a lot more strict with the pool now that before. I guess there's been a lot of problems. A few years ago, we used to be able to stay at BCV and go to SALB without requiring a bracelet, in the past year or so, we had always had to get one. There is always someone standing at each entrance. I remembered this past August, we were getting our bracelets and a family tried to go past the CM and the CM immediately turned and asked for them to provide their "keys". They kept complaining that they just wanted to jump in for a few minutes and then go to the boardwalk. When I left, they were still arguing, I didn't notice them at the pool. So I don't know what happened. When we stayed at the AKV Kidani, the pool had the key card entrance which I thought was a great idea.

Actually, I'm glad they are cracking down on it. I overheard a CM stating that they have been having problems with the locals not staying in the resort, but just driving over and going to the pool. And this probably one of the main reasons why we hear of security at entrance being a little more deligent with visitors. I remember a few years ago, being able to easily go to the Boardwalk area to look around, but a year ago when we drove in, we were asked so many questions - where we are going, what are we doing etc...it was strange. They were very nice about it, but a few years ago, we were told where to park and "Have a magical day!". Sad really.
