I've read the rules regarding pool hopping but I still have one question. If you're staying at OKW but your home resort is AKL, can you use the AKL pool? I know it is one of the pools DVC members can't pool hop at but I didn't know if being an owner there makes a difference.
When it comes to DVC perks, it really doesn't matter what your home resort is. You can't pool hop to AKV/AKL or YC/BC/BCV. You can only use those pools if you are a guest at that resort. If you are staying offsite, you can't use pool hopping because you are not staying at a WDW resort.
Why is that? I can understand not being allowed to use stormalong bay, but AKL pool doesn't make sense. I would think that the pool At the boardwalk resort would have restrictions.

Really, I think it's about the only thing they can do to try to control the guest:animal ratio in the pool area.
I think the idea is that they want to limit the number of guests in the pool so as not to disturb the animals. There is a savannah that is adjacent to the pool, and if they allowed pool-hopping, they may have issues with noise. This won't really be an issue with the pool/water play area for Kidani Village, but as it's slated to be more water park-ish, I imagine they'll restrict that as well (like BCV).
Since the only animals at the Boardwalk are of the fiberglass Circus sort, I don't think they're too worried. And *noone* is going to scare the clown away! (unfortunately )
