Is it true that even though you're staying at one Disney resort, you can't pool hop?

this is a hot topic here on the DIS
You arent allowed to pool hop but there are some exceptions
DVC members can during certains I believe
also sister resorts share

How would they know which resort you are from. Some resorts are close and you can wallk from one to the other. Example Riverside and Port Orleans or All Start Sport , Movie or Music. You can hop around the resorts to eat just take you swim suit with you.

DVC members can hop except for SAB at BCV and the pool at AKL. We can only use those pools if we are staying at those DVC resorts.

Like I'll be staying at WL - if I hop over to GF's pool, how are they gonna know that I'm not staying there? Do they ask for room keys or something when you go up? How exactly do they check? With the amount of money that we all pay for our trips, you think they'd let us...........

Actually the resorts you mention are sister resorts . People staying there can hop from one to the other

They know because at some of the Deluxe resorts especially BC and YC the do ask you to show your room key.

The resorts you just mentioned are sister resort and they do share! At Anytime a CM can ask you for your resort card/key and if you are at a pool that you are not supposed to be at the will ask you to leave. I have never seen this done, but have seen a CM ask for resort proof before. Turned out it was like 7-8 people sharing 1 room, and they were packed up and moved out. But they were trouble makers to boot...they were close to our room so we weren't upset to see them leave! Some have reported seeing CM's ask for these resort keys during highest peak times. And some pools are more seeked after than others. Even DVC guest are limited to the pools they can hop too!

But the problem is .... Disney has 40 resorts and what if 4,000 people showed up at the polly one day... pool has room for 200 people ???

Everyone wants to swim at Poly and Beach Club. There would be no room for the guest that are staying their

What you listed are sister resorts so you are able to use the pools at either POR or POFQ regardless of which side you are a registered guest of.

That is also my understanding of the All Star Resorts even though they are more spreadout so I am not sure how much people do this.

If you try to get into Storm-A-Long Bay at the YC/BC you have to show your room key for either the YC/BC to get a wrist band in order to get in.

I believe POR and Riverside are sister resorts, because you can pool hop between the two of them if you are staying at one of them. And the same goes for the all stars.

Wow - that's kinda poopy. I was looking forward to heading over to GF and chillaxin' by the pool with a big ol' Orange Creamiscle in my hand........ Oh well, looks like I am limited to WL's pool.......

Hi,
They check IDs at the resort pools when their are capiticy issues and at the YC/BC they check almost all of the time. The room rate at the WL just gets you the use of the amenities at that resort. The pool there is cool so I am sure you will enjoy yourself there.

Umm, this is against Disney policy. The pools are meant only for the guests who paid to stay at that particular resort. The only exceptions being if you stay at one All-Star resort you can use any of the All-Star pools, and if you stay at one Port Orleans resort you can use either Port Orleans pool. And if you are a DVC member you can hop with certain restrictions.

The pools at the Disney resorts get nicer and nicer the more money you spend on your room. The Value resorts have plain pools with no slide. The Mods have nicer pool areas with slides, and the Deluxe resorts have elaborate pool areas with slides and other features. If you want to swim in a nicer pool you have to pay to stay at that resort. Otherwise you would have many people paying to stay at a Value and then using the Beach Club's pool.

And how would they know? Well, at the Beach Club they ask to see your room key. No Beach Club room key, no getting in the pool.

Think about it this way-with the amount of money people pay to stay at the Grand Floridian, those guests shouldn't have to worry about the pool being overcrowded by non-guests. With the amount of money you are paying to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, you shouldn't have to worry about the pool being overcrowded by non-guests.

Guests pay to use the amenities at the specific resort they are staying at.

The good news is that WL has a great pool. My kids loved it and I had a hard time getting them out of it. Have a great trip!!!

I'm pretty happy to hear this info. I didn't even think people thought to pool hop. After time at the pool, I like to be close to my room so I can shower and change. It makes perfect sense that you get to use the amentities you paid for.

Hi MommyBuzz909. I suspect you will enjoy the WL pool. It is located in the courtyard so is close to the laundry facilities and the counter service restaurant. The pool bar is pretty good :thumbsup2 . I remember seeing quite a few families picking up cs and eating at poolside tables.

The "quiet" pool at WL (over by the VWL) is also really great. It has "springs" that are a lot of fun to play with.
