What are the restrictions on DVC members using other pools? Can we still use Stormalong Bay and Boardwalk pools when we are staying at OKW? We haven't been in over a year and we had problems last time due to it being Christmas week. We're going again for Christmas and wonder if we'll have the same problems?
Thanks
Tony

The pool hopping priviledge has been steadily eroded. First SAB was restricted at Easter without notice. Then it's evolved to include other pools at Easter and other time frames as well. The rule is that you must check with the front desk at the destination pool and see if it's being allowed. Unfortunately, they've set it up where they can change their mind on your way over and deny you entry even if you followed this rule. I suspect it's a priviledge that's on it's last leg, at least for SAB. I do not expect pool hopping at SAB to survive much into BCV opening.

Here is the official word from the Fall Issue of Vacation Magic

Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests at Disney’s Old
Key West Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas and The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are permitted to use other Walt Disney World® Resort and Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel pools (other than the hotel at which you are staying) if these pools are not at capacity on any given day. AWalt Disney World Resort ID card indicating you are a Disney Vacation Club Member is required to use the other pools. This offer is not available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Please check with the front desk of the destination hotel regarding pool availability.

Hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Disney Vacation Club Members may not “pool hop” from November 20–25, 2001 and December 22, 2001–January 2, 2002* due to the high occupancy rate that is expected over these holiday periods. If you are using the pool at a resort other than the one where you are staying, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate guests ofthat resort.

*other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity

excluding the holidays, we just hit 6 more pools last week without any problem. Did SAB and was even given the wrist band.

They recently added the Easter break dates as well....

Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" December 22, 2001 - January 2, 2002 and March 24 - April 1, 2002. If you are using the pool at a resort other than the one where you are staying, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate guests of that resort.

When it says you "may" be asked to leave does that mean that even during Christmas break you can still pool hop and they "may not" ask you to leave? I know its splitting hairs but we love Stormalong Bay. What are the wristbands for?
Thanks
Tony

We hopped over to SAB during the first day of our stay (Nov 17). They gave us a wristband, which everyone had, and we had a great time. It was crowded, though. Later in the week (when hopping was closed) we went to the GF to check out the decorations, and noticed there were 3 kids in the new pool, and a couple at a table, which I would imagine would be a little under the capacity! Can't wait to try it out sometime. I also want to try the Poly's new pool as well.
