pool hopping to dinner?

Have you ever pool hopped to dinner? Meaning, have you ever had dinner plans at another resort, so instead of just going for dinner you went and used the pool first? Maybe at GF or Poly before 1900 Park or Ohana?
Or OKW before Olivia's, or SSR pool before Turf Club?

We are going end of August, and will have an AP but really only plan to go to the parks in the mornings and maybe 1-2 times at night for the Fireworks (at Epcot while at BWV).

In our quest to try out new restaurants, we are considering pool hopping with the kids and then going to dinner. Making an afternoon/evening of it. Problem is, my wife is concerned about accommodations to change for dinner, get ready, etc...
Question is, have you ever done this? What's the best combo? Where do you find the best changing areas? Or, is your favorite a place where you can go to dinner in (dry) bathing suits, t-shirts and flip flops?

We don't want to go all the way back to our hotel to get ready for dinner, this sort of defeats the purpose. Any advice on pool hopping in general is appreciated (I do already know where we cannot hop!).

I would plan to swim after dinner.

Unless you are going counter service I would think that swim suits even dry are a no no at any of the TS restaurants.

WL and BW have changing areas-pretty sure POLY and GF do as well, maybe someone knows. SAB does but no hopping. Just bring a back pack.

You got me thinking. We may try this ourselves next March. We will be at BCV, but we really would like to try some pool hopping near MK. We may go for an early dinner at the Poly and then swim/relax by the pool followed by watching Wishes on the beach. What do you think of that for your pool hopping idea with dinner included?

When the DGC were young, we ate breakfast at Boatwrights and swam in the POR pool. Boatwrights isn't opened for breakfast any more, we enjoyed their variety of stuffed french toast. You have given me the idea to pool hop to the Poly after breakfast with Stitch!

We pool hopped to CSR a couple of times when we had the old dining certificates and once with the DDP and ate at the Pepper Market. There were changing facilities there by the pool. We did have a car which made it easy since we didn't have to take multiple buses. May suggest trying the Poly pool after dinner at Kona this trip at the end of August.

We have not done it with dinner but have gone in the evening to swim and watch wishes from the poly.

Thank you all for the suggestions--the idea of going to an earlier dinner and then swimming hadn't crossed my mind, but it is compelling. It certainly would be easier to go from dressed up to swim clothes than vice versa.

We were thinking about dinner at Ohana or Narcoosee's and then fireworks, no reason we couldn't eat early and swim in between the dinner and the fireworks.

This also will probably make my wife happy, as she is not a big fan of getting ready for dinner outside her "comfort zone"!

I would say just throw in a change of clothes in a bag for everyone and go for it. If your sits are wet you can change and if they are dry you can just throw clothes on over them. I was thinking about pool hopping for the first time next August when we go. Are Beach Club and Animal Kingdom the only pools you can't hop to? I thought I read that BLT wasn't allowing pool hopping either but that still leaves lots of pools!

You are right about BLT...no pool hopping there either.

We've done a water park, ran late, and had to head straight to dinner. As long as you have dry clothes to change into, I don't see an issue.

If the weather is warm enough we are going to try this in December! Our kids love POR so maybe a late night swim after Boatwrights for old times sake!

We have - I have wash and go hair and wear almost no makeup on vacation (mascara and lip gloss on a fancy day) - I'm pretty "low maintenance" when it comes to that sort of thing, brought the backpack with clothes for dinner, and I still didn't feel like I'd been adequately "primped" for dinner. I wouldn't do it again. Plus we were using Disney transportation - so I was dragging the backpack with wet swimsuits in it to dinner (a large ziploc bag would have been a good idea).

We have pool hopped the past two summers. We ate dinner at Kona and changed in the bathrooms behind the waterfall at the pool. My kids love the poly pool and we have also caught the water pageant there too relaxing beach side. Pool hopping is a perk we have really enjoyed!

That's too bad I enjoyed a breakfast there a few years back.


I guess the luxury way to pool hop than dinner would be:
pool than GF spa treatment (using spa facility to get ready) then dinner?
