Pool Hopping Question

We'll be staying at BCV this Spring. Is pool hopping allowed at non-DVC resorts? Is it best to call ahead or can I stop at the front desk of the resort that I want to swim at? (If it's a spur of the moment decision.) I'd like to check out the Polynesian pool. (actually my kids want to!) I will make sure to have my room key with me (which also says DVC member)

Yes, with the exception of the pool at the AKL and certain holiday/peak periods, pool hopping is allowed to the non-DVC resorts. DVC asks that we call ahead to make sure the "destination pool" is open for hopping. You can find the complete policy and any "blackout" dates on the DVC members' website.

You can pool hop to any WDW resort pool- except for AKL and BCV (in your case, you can use that pool since you'll be staying there). Calling ahead is suggested- and I'd make sure to get the name of the CM you speak with.

Otherwise, all you need is your room ID with "DVC Member" imprinted!

Hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time due to capacity limitations. Due to the high occupancy that is expected, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:

April 12 - 20, 2003
May 23 - 26, 2003
June 30, 2003 - July 6, 2003
November 24 - 30, 2003
December 20, 2003 - January 3, 2004
If you are using the pool at a resort other than the one where you are staying, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate guests of that resort.

Looks like we won't be able to pool hop this trip because of the dates. This will be the first trip with the whole family since we joined DVC last summer(after staying as guests of our friends) I'm sure my kids will be more than happy at SAB. We'll just have to make another trip during a non-peak time over the next 30+ years or so
