We just got home form a trip to WDW the first week in May. We stayed at POR and loved it. In fact we loved the trip so much we are taking al the grandparents next year the same time.

There will be 14 total of us and we have pretty much decided a pool home is in our best interest. (I am really conflicted becuase I felt liek the dining plan was such a great value.)

Anyways I hear a lot of buzz about renting directly from the owners...how does one go about that? I have put in a couple of inquiries at rental companies but still waiting to hear back.

I've used www.vrbo.com in the past and had good luck. You may want to think about which developments are a good fit for your group. We like to be close so for us we always check Windsor Palms, Windsor Hills and Emerald Island. There are plenty of others that other posters can give you info on.

If you don't mind driving a little there are lots more that are a little further out and can often times save you some money. We like Sea World and Universal as well as Disney so for us the savings isn't worth the extra driving time. From Windsor Palms we were at the Disney entrance in no time at all....literally just a few miles.

There are lots of listings on all of the sites listed so think about the size of the house (# of beds/baths needed) and other features that are important to you to help narrow down the field. Virtually every large villa I have seen has a combination of master suites with queen or king beds as well as rooms with twin beds or bunkbeds. Sometimes for a large group the number of each makes a difference.

We love a large pool and spa so for us thats always a key feature. Every family has their own preferences though such as t.v's, game room, certain furnishings, internet access, etc. You can easily find all of these things but it's helps to think about what's important ahead of time I think since the number of listings can be a little overwhelming at first.

We're staying in our third pool home this July, also with a large gorup, and we cant wait. For us, it's our favorite way to vacation when visiting the Orlando area. I think you'll be hooked once you experience it.

There will be a lot of choices. First things you'll need to decide how many bedrooms you'll need, or if you'll want 2 homes in the same development. On occasion you can find 2 right next to one another-- but in any case you'll definetly be able to get same development. The # of rooms, # of bathrooms, and must have amenities will help you narrow down your list. Have fun looking through the homes- it can be intimidating, but fun. :goodvibes
