On the WDW site, I was reading that you can rent a tube to float on the lazy river. How much does it cost? I'm assuming there's a fee involved since it says you can rent one, or do you just check it out using your resort information and return it at no cost? Thanks!

From post #2 of the BC/YC FAQ thread.

Tube rentals, complimentary life jackets and swim diapers are available at Poolside Gifts located under the gazebo.

The tubes are $3 for 1 hour or $10 per day.

Pool noodles may be purchased at Poolside Gifts or the Beach Club Marketplace for around $4-$5 each.

According to a lifeguard, July 2010:
Outside floats are not permitted for adults in SAB. Pool noodles, either from home or purchased at the pool gift shop, may be used in SAB. Young children may use floats that surround their body if an adult is within arm's reach. These rules are subject to change and may be affected by crowd conditions.

Thanks, dansdad! I appreciate the information! Yikes! That fee could really rack up after a week's stay if one wasn't careful.

We've been enjoying the lazy river for several years now and have never rented a tube. We drive so we are able to take our own pool noodles along and use those. I believe at one time they also sold them either in the Marketplace or at the pool shop.

Later in the day, there are usually some unattended tubes floating around that have been abandoned by their renters and people will take them for a spin.

Have a great time at BC!

Thanks for the info! We've not committed to staying at BC yet; I was doing my research to decide where we'll like best when I stumbled along the pool/tube information. Very torn about where to stay! I know my girls would love the pool area at BC for sure!

We've done a couple of stays at the Y&B.... I must say from our perspective... Though SAB is great and different... It was jammed with guest to the point, you just stood there... Especially for lounges and tables... None to be had, even 2 together.. ( we've seen guests come down early and stake towels on tables and chairs for later, big no-no)...

The pool is a big part of our experience but what we experienced on 3 stays there... We've moved on... And I'm not one to pay Y&B prices to use a quiet pool.... Remember, this is just my view and experience,,, others have different views but I don't want that experience again...

You could fit a noodle or 2 in your luggage and then just give them to someone on your last day there and have room for souviniers.

We went last August and although it was crowded, we never had trouble getting a chair, only waited a few minutes for the slides etc. We only did the lazy river once or twice because my 2 YO was happy digging in the sand and the 5 YO was swimming in that area. There were 14 of us and we all loved it.

We just got back and the tubes were just floating in the lazy river for anyone to use. The gift shop at the pool was not longer there, it looked like it was being used at an office type area for the pool staff.

And bear in mind, it's not a lazy river like you'd see in one of the water parks. That one in BB went on forever! SAB's "lazy river" is quite small!

Just our experience but when we were there in April, there were plenty of tubes just all over the pool and no indication that you had to rent them. We used the tubes that were floating in the pool. :goodvibes

We just returned from BC & we used the lazy river. When I asked a lifeguard where to get a float, he said to just wait for one. An empty one came floating by & we just grabbed it. He didn't say anything about renting one.

Glad to hear so many haven't had to rent one. At $3 an hour for a family of four that could add up over a week's time. Not that we'd do it every day, but once my girls did it one time I'm sure they'd want to do it again and it could add up quick.

Yep- we are here now and used it yesterday and also during our stay last year and never have had to pay:

Also, I don't know how old your kids are, but it was the same for the buckets and shovels that the kids meal comes in...there were plenty just around for the kids to use.

How fun! I'm assuming it's a CS place that you get the kid's meal with the bucket and shovel. Which place is it?

The counter service restaurant at the Yacht & Beach Club pool is Hurricane Hanna's. Here's some info from the FAQ thread:

Hurricane Hanna's is a quick service location near SAB, featuring sandwiches and other quick bites.
The kids' meals are served in a pail with a shovel that can be used at the beach or at SAB!
Alcoholic beverages are also available.

Hurricane Hanna's reopened on January 22, 2013 after a 5 month refurbishment

We usually buy a couple of noodles and then just give them to another family on our last day. It's worth the price to have them for the week and just pass them on. Trying to take them home is not worth the trouble for the few dollars that they cost.
