Pooh Sized on SW Airlines

I never thought to buy an extra seat but from the comments it might be easier for the dh. So with all airlines do you buy a regular seat or a child seat or is there an extended seat selection? With sw you can get a refund if they are not sold out? Like if the plane is not 100% seated then you can request a refund? Am I understanding the posts correctly?

Why not go to Southwest's website and read their policy for yourself? :confused3

A link to it has been posted twice already in this thread.

I saw last week on TV that SW is in the process of changing their seats to SMALLER seats. I can attest to that as the plane that I flew to Orlando in September had larger seats going than coming back. Apparently, they can get more seats in by reducing the size.

I believe the seat width are the same size but the rows are closer together allowing them to add an additional row to each plane.

The last row of seats on some southwest jets are narrower than the standard 17" seats.

http://www.seatguru.com/ is an excellent site to find exact measurements on seats and which are the best / worst seats on a particular flight.

Was on sw today. Totally full flight. Sitting across the aisle from someone who needed extender. It was clear she would but nobody mentioned anything. She asked for an extender and it was given very discreetly. The seats felt much larger than usair.

Southwest's seats may have felt larger, but they are not. In fact, US Airways has a number of planes where the seat width is 18 inches (others are 17 and 17.1 inches). All of Southwest's seats are 17 inches wide, the same or smaller than US Airways.

That is interesting. Their seat belts are definitely shorter bc I have never had trouble fastening a seat in any other flight and have had trouble on a few occasions on usair and never have room to spare . Some of their places have a full partition between the seats v a moving armrest and that definitely makes for a tighter feel.
