pooh size question

Great thread. I am 6'4" and hover around the 350lb mark. At WDW, I have no problems at all, except for a couple of rides due to my height (IE space mountain). I was wondering if the same would hold true for Universal. For these modified seats, does the CM (not sure what the US employee tile is) look at you and seat you where they think it would be best or do you have to ask?
Dude-I'm 6'4" 365,and just got back from US/IOA.I could'nt ride FJ,Rip Ride,Hulk,Dragons,or Doom.I payed good money(just like everyone else)to get in,but could'nt ride the"signature"rides-definately was not happy about it either!!:sad2:I guess that's why we go to WDW on a regular basis-I can ride EVERYTHING,although Space/Splash Mtn's,Astro,Speedway, and Dinosaur can be a little uncofortable,at least I get to ride.US/IOA are obviously not intersested in making the"premier"rides suitable for some of us"Biggun's",but they sure don't have a problem taking our hard earned money!:rolleyes:Could'nt ride Mummy either, and that's the one I really wanted to ride(and of course FJ).If the seats were about 4-6" bigger,I probably could have rode everything.:sad2:US/IOA really need to think about adjusting some of the harnesses/restraints or whatever so some of us "Big Boys or Girls" can ride too!!! I rode everything else at US/IOA from E.T.,MIB,Simpsons,Rip Saw Falls etc..and had a really good time-But they won't see another PENNY from my family until 1-I shed enough weight(broad shoulders might stop me anyway)or 2 fix the darn system so us "Big Folk" can ride too! Disney can do it,why can't they?:confused3 Oh,I know why, they ain't Disney!:rolleyes:Everyone is not "average" size or weight!!!!

Thanks for the post! Really gives me something to think about. Oh, and the definition of "average" varies from place to place/ person to person anyway so ..:confused3. That's why I love WDW...the only ride that I have any "issues" with is Space Mountain and that's due to height more than weight/size, but I can still ride comfortably is I choose to. Everything else @ WDW I have no issues.

Size isn't the only thing that restricts people. People with motion sickness, back injuries, fear of heights, etc. can't ride lots of rides. They can't make every ride suitable for every rider nor should they.

Very true..BUT WDW built their attractions so that they would accomodate a wider variety of guests of all different sizes. It seems like with the types of rides at US/IOA, there is probably sctricter requirements for the retraints than at WDW. WDW is more "attractions" where as US/IOA has more "thrill rides".

There are still rides at WDW that larger sized guests can ride but those with other issues can't. That is my point. Disney still has rides with restrictions. They may not be size restrictions but they are restrictions none the less. I'd love to ride Star Tours but I can't because it makes me very ill. I'm not going to complain that they should change the ride so everyone with motion sickness can ride it. That's just the nature of the ride.

Oh contentious one! We are talking about SIZE-not the rest of the issues that might inhibit someones ability to ride/participate-Geez! I have read the warnings you know, and they SHOULD make the rides as suitable as possible for the many types of people that may want to enjoy them!!!!Most people know what their limitations are,and should not ride if they might possibly have some ill effects from doing so.The warnings are a very good way to inform people, and possibly "protect" them from themselves, but they are also there so they can say"we warned you" in case of litigation.;) I can't imagine how,or why anyone would'nt want EVERYONE to be able to enjoy what is available? They can send a man to the moon,or have people living in a Space Station, but they can't make attractions suitable for everyone?:confused3 Really?

Just because a ride can be used by everyone, certainly doesn't mean it is a worthwhile ride for everyone. Universal does not make spectator attractions. If you want a spectator attraction, it is not the park for you.

If Universal started making attractions where you simply sat in a vehicle and watched stuff, they would be getting a lot more complaints than they are now.

Restrictions on a ride are exactly that. People with motion sickness self regulate what rides they can or can not go on. That is no different than the park regulating who can go on because of size. It is still a restriction and still makes rides unsuitable for many riders. If every ride had no restrictions, it would be a pretty boring park.

Once again, the point is being missed. What is the title of this thread? I'm done.:rolleyes1

The point is not being missed. I understand you are feeling upset that Universal doesn't cater to plus sized people like Disney does. You took the time to complain that you were being treated unfairly and that all rides should accommodate people of all sizes.

All I am saying is that plus sized people aren't the only ones who suffer because of ride restrictions and no one who is limited by the restrictions should expect the ride to change just for them.

Titles of threads don't limit the scope of the discussion. This is a discussion board and we don't have to agree with each other. I am simply stating another point of view from a person with a different set of restrictions.

ditto

My parents are pooh sized. My dad couldn't fit in the ride vehicles so he did not go on most of the rides.

Man, you and I had the exact same experience! I'm 6'7" 350lbs and I couldn't ride the same ones you couldn't and the only things I did ride are the same ones you did. I was pissed too, especially at Rip Ride Rocket because the CM said I would fit in the modified seat, wrong! I don't embarrass easily, but that was not cool to actually climb into the seat, only to have to get back out and walk away. The best ride that I could actually ride at US/IOA was Spiderman. To all those really big and tall guys who read this, I'm not saying you shouldn't visit these parks because there are a lot of great attractions you can do and see, but be advised that you probably won't get to ride any of the major coasters. I was thrilled to get to ride Flight of the Hippogriff, how silly is that. :confused3

I am 5'3" and close to 300 lbs. I typically wear a 26 bottom and 24 top. I carry most of my weight in my hips. Anyone similarly sized been and tried to ride? I am trying to loose weight before the trip, but I have a couple of medical issues that make that difficult.

There is a thread with people's first hand results from before they adjusted the restraints and after. I'll look around and see if I can find it for you.

Here you go. Hope this is helpful.

Unfortunately, the thread link is one I have already read... as a matter of fact, I was the last post on it a month ago... asking almost the exact same question.... no one ever replied after it!!!

I am 5'3 and fluxuate weight around 280... the main ride I am worried about is FJ

Well, this thread has been very helpful. Thanks to those who posted truthfully about their experiences. From those posts, at this point, I would not be able to enjoy all the attractions that IOA/US has to offer. For me, if I cannot experience everything at least once, then it will not be worth the $$$$. So I guess I will pass on IOA/US. Oh well, guess we'll just have to keep going to WDW...:rolleyes1
