Curious what the hours/prices are for the pony rides. My dd is 4 1/2 years old. She would love to do this while we are there.
OK, so I guess I should read the whole thread.
It says to catch the bus at the Settlement Depot stop, to Outpost Depot. It can't be too hard to find, right?![]()
Wish I could ride too! I'll settle for leading...
My 9 year old dd is so looking forward to this. She asked if we could do it as soon as we set up camp. I may regret having purchased park tickets!![]()
"Pony rides from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for children 2-8 years old, weighing no more than 80 pounds - Cost $4 Children must wear closed-toe shoes to ride the ponies at Fort Wilderness."
Not sure if you saw the ages on here, if she's small. they may not ask her age.I would think that the pony only cares about the weight, and not the age of the child.
She is old enough for the trail rides, though.....
Somehow I overlooked this! She has been talking about riding the ponies since March-when we made our reservations! She was 8 then and maybe that's why I didn't pay attention to the age limit.
She just turned 9 and weighs 57 pounds. If children drive golf carts when they're not suppose to, maybe they will let a 9 year old ride a pony.I will tell her not to divulge her age unless she is specifically asked.
Thanks for pointing this out to me.
Same here. My DD3 has ridden Snow the last two trips to the Fort. It is a rare day in my house when she doesn't talk about Snow. The nice thing is...if Snow gets retired from Pony ride service, there is a fair chance they will still have a white pony on duty. My 3 year old can't read, so in my mind ALL white ponies are named Snow. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.For the last couple years, when we go to the fort, she wants to go see NEMO, the pony she has ridden there. The sad part is they swap them out every few years, so we are waiting for NEMO not to be there anymore and a disappointed DD (until she makes a new friend).
