We are in the "need to get rid of the lemon" stage, but had not planned on it for at least another 2 years...looking at everything that seats 5 under 25 grand, safety, reliability, gas mileage, warranty...saw one on the road yesterday, kinda liked it....any thoguths?

I love Pontiacs! I'm really disappointed that we had to buy a car before the Torrent was released, otherwise I would have bought it instead of my Tucson. However, I do recommend the Tucson or Santa Fe.

Pam, I haven't seen any on the road yet. I agree about avoiding 1st year models though.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks guys....I am HOPING to not have to replace our van in under a year ....we thought we'd have gotten at least another 2 years out of it (70,000 miles- '96 Nissan Quest) but depending on how much the pending repairs are going to run, we may put the $ into a new vehicle, so I am starting to nose around. I had not seen or heard any advertising on this so when I saw it drive by I was curious. I sure like the styling, and from what I found it is more of a basic vehicle, not loaded to the gills, which is fine by me. My biggest luxury criteria is back seat windows that roll down!
Hi Rita! :wave2:

We'll be getting a new SUV next year. I saw a Torrent on I-95 a few days ago and was wondering about it myself. I agree on avoiding first year models.

I also saw the Porsche Cayenne S, but I've already ruled that one out!

Saw quite a few on the tollway Thanksgiving when we were driving to Wisconsin...so I guess they are selling. Thy do look narrow for an SUV....and I do not think that they offer the "jump" seat for the back to make it a 7 squish-passenger....I think I will keep it in the back of my mind tho....DH will most likely head for another van tho  sigh...I think I will be taxi for the rest of my life!

Keep in mind this is the Pontiac version of the Chevrolet Equinox. I would do some research on the Equinox. It should give you a pretty decent feel for the Torrent.
