Pontiac Aztek owners....how could you do it?

People either love or hate Aztecs. I know a few people who owned one back then. They loved the things.

I've read that "underneath" it's actually a pretty good vehicle...but looks-wise...

My dad had one as a rental once when they first came out. I was pregnant with DS9. It was HORRIBLE. The ride was terrible. At one point I was sitting in the back seat and had to make him stop so I could get out, I was so uncomfortable.
I think my dad ended up 'trading' it for a different rental 1/2 way through the vacation.It was one of the "Survivor" yellow and black ones too...man it was ugly!

They clearly are ugly, but I have heard from many who have driven them, and the reviews say that they are very nice vehicles inside, and drive nicely.
All I can say is I thought the Ford Taurus/Mercury were just as ugly when they came out in 1986. 4 years later, when I needed a family car, I test drove both, and bought a Sable. Loved it, reliable, drove nice. Had it 18 years. Both my kids learned to drive in it, and now they have their own (Tauruses) because they loved it too.

I heard their market research group consisted of gen-Xers who loved all the stuff like the tent and snowboard racks and such. But then it was produced at a price those people couldn't afford, and most people with enough money also had good taste.

The PT cruiser looks like a milk delivery truck from back in the day.

I hate poniacs in general. None of them are good looking.

I agree about the milk truck!

I did love my little red Pontiac Sunfire though. It was fun to drive.

I have a friend who bought one BECAUSE of the attached tent. She uses it all the time and loves it.

Did you know they actually sell tents now that attach to the back of other SUVs? Guess it wasn't such a crazy idea to some people after all.

There are other vehicles out there I truly think are much uglier.

No offense taken....I have an Aztek and I love it!! My nickname for her is ugly puppy, I'm suppose to get a new car next year but I talked my husband out of it cause I really love how it drives and how roomy it is and there really isn't anything out there that I want so I'll have my Aztek for a few more years hopefully..

An Aztek pulled up alongside me at a stoplight this morning...and got me to thinking.

I don't like them because xh's sister had one and they will forever be associated with evil! That being said, I like PT, HHR, Cube, etc..I like their funkiness!

You know what's uglier than an Atzek? A yellow one!! I just saw one and almost drove off the road I was laughing so hard.

i had a black one when they came out.. and i loved it!! I called it the "ugly mobile", got rear ended once.. and the chick bounced off the car (rubber buggy bumpers).
there are uglier cars out there, like all the box shaped ones!!

I LOVE my PT Cruiser.. I got it just about 3 years ago and just love it. Plus it holds a ton of stuff with the seats down..

I had one. I was sooo upset when they stopped making them. I had to get rid of mine due to computer issues and had to settle for a Rendezvous (same frame, different top) LOVED my Aztek. My sister has one that has over 200,000 miles on it. Something just happened to the versa-trak and it will cost $4,000 to repair. She is heartbroken, the car isn't worth that much.

I think she will put it up on blocks in her barn and save it. It is bound to be a collector car in about 20 years!

edited to add: it was THE easiest car to find in a parking lot at the mall!

That is how I feel about the Ford Flex. It is too boxy looking for me and I hate the ones with the white top.

The Flex reminds me of a hearse.

I'll never forget watching the Survivor episode where Colby wins a bright, yellow Aztek and gets to spend the night with his mother sleeping in the makeshift tent. DH and I still crack up about it when we ever see an Aztek on the road.

Agree, the Aztek was horrible...however whoever doesn't like the Nissan Cube....don't worry, they've done one worse....look up the Nissan Juke if you want UGLY!!

Eww, I just looked them up and I don't like the Flex or the Cube. I wish I knew what my neighbor has. It's boxy like these plus it's the color of nacho cheese. Swear to God.

I have never owned but I think I'm one of the only people on Earth who actually liked them when they came out!
