The nice thing about buying cheap ponchos at Walmart or where ever is that they are folded up nice and small and fit in a fanny pack or backpack easily. they are not heavy to lug around.
Have you tried to fold up the Mickey ponchos?! They weigh a ton to boot. They are nice and thick, but unless I was going to be in a downpour for 8 hours I think the cheapo ones work fine. Plus you can just toss them after use. I usually pack 2 for each of us so that I don't have to save them. Once you use them they never fold back as small.
the only good thing about being forced to spend my money on 2 Mickey ponchos (because the CA weather forecast was SO wrong and I left my cheap ones in the hotel) was that as soon as I bought them, the sky cleared.![]()
This is my exact problem with the DL ponchos! Because you spend $8 each, you feel like you have to re-use them. They're quite bulky and would be hard to fold down (especially if you have more than one) into a backpack, etc. I try to "travel light" when at WDW, and like the cheap Target ponchos that easily fit into a fanny pack or pocket. I consider them "disposable", and toss them after using.
