I am going to DL this week :) but am sad to see we may have showers in the forcast... I am trying to decide to buy some ponchos here at home before we go or wait and get them if needed at the park..... Does anyone know the price of them at the resort???:confused3

Another vote for get them before you go! The ones in the park do have cute Disney characters on them if I remember right, but they are expensive. I bought ours at the Dollar store, and we were all covered for $5. Can't beat that price, and we just threw them away at the end of the trip. I would also get a stroller cover, if that applies to you. You can get them at Babies r Us, and probably Target and Walmart, too.

Have fun!!

Thanks for your feedback. I think I will pick up ones for the adults and think about the kids.... Do they make a child size at the dollar store or wallmart?

Sometimes you can get the child size ones at Walmart/Target, but at our stores they are usually sold out. We bought the DL ponchos for our little kids and the regular .87 ones from Walmart on the rest of the family. They work great for Grizzly Rapids and Splash Mountain too!

Ok, I'm kind of strange about this but I never said I was normal.

I like the DL ponchos. I know I can get them cheaper if I buy them before. There is something about wearing a DL poncho that makes me happy.

One time my mom and I went when it was raining pretty hard all day. We knew ahead of time so we brought ponchos from my uncle's house. We had free ponchos but when we were walking around with the army green ones we felt left out because everyone else had on bright yellow with Mickey on them. there were these seas of people in the yellow ponchos. We ditched ours in a locker and bought the Mickey ones so we could fit in at DL! :rotfl2:

Hi neighbor! I live in Sammamish and will be traveling to the sun state soon :)

I got ponchos for my kids at Target for $1

Not only will you save money, but your kids won't look like everyone else in the park. It is hard when they are all wearing the same thing. If you happen to loose track of one and there are 20 other kids you start to panic.

I picked up red orange and yellow in the dollar spot - good luck!

Well hello neighbor to you too! I used to live in Sammamish! Thanks for the advise. Did you find these recently at Target?:wizard:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a positive reason to buy the Disney poncho is they will replace them if they tear!

Yep, and that really helps if you have kids or are clumsy like me.

Plus when we go to disney we are decked out. We always wear disney shirts and sweatshirts. If we had plain ponchos and didn't look like everyone else who had the Disney ones my kids would be so disappointed. So would I. I haven't had that feeling where they disappeared on me though. I can see where that might make me nervous so that is a good point to bring up.

Two for a buck at the Dollar Tree. Worked just dandy on Grizzly last week and boy did we need them. If I did not know any better I would think they filled that ride up with extra water, we were soaked socks and all. (First trip we braved it and went without ponchos......not real smart)

Oh no. I didn't know this. We bought 4 on our trip last April. By the end of our trip 2 of the 4 were ripped so we ended up throwing them away.

Small world huh? :)

I didn't realize that DL would replace the poncho if it was torn. Hmmm

I got the ponchos in the $1 spot a few weeks ago but I am not sure if they are still there. I would check in their camping area or the dollar store though. I need to pick up some for the adults, especially if we want the water rides !!!

When I went to WDW or DL before I had kids, I'd just purchase a poncho if I needed one. I actually like the bright yellow w/Mickey on them.
When I went to WDW the first time when I had kids, I had just read the UG, and they made comments about it turning into a sea or yellow ponchos and how easy it was for kids to get lost. I purchased all of ours before we left and I am so glad I did. It rained hard for at least an hour each day we were there, and having different colored ponchos was a godsend.
This time around, I got DD a pink princess poncho from ebay, and she has a princess umbrella. I'm still looking for a pooh one for me, but overall, we'll have the plain ones.
If you're into the Disney clothing, purchase the clear/see through ponchos and then you'll be able to see your disney clothes underneath.
I wish they could increase the colors/characters options for the ponchos, then I'd be more likely to buy them at DL.

The nice thing about buying cheap ponchos at Walmart or where ever is that they are folded up nice and small and fit in a fanny pack or backpack easily. they are not heavy to lug around.

Have you tried to fold up the Mickey ponchos?! They weigh a ton to boot. They are nice and thick, but unless I was going to be in a downpour for 8 hours I think the cheapo ones work fine. Plus you can just toss them after use. I usually pack 2 for each of us so that I don't have to save them. Once you use them they never fold back as small.

the only good thing about being forced to spend my money on 2 Mickey ponchos (because the CA weather forecast was SO wrong and I left my cheap ones in the hotel) was that as soon as I bought them, the sky cleared. :)
