Poly's Birthday

I was so excited (and surprised) to get September 30 and October 1 at the Poly at the 7-month mark. Well, it is still available several days later. It now has me wondering why. I figured it would be hard to get. Is there something going on there that weekend that makes people not want to be there?

I've never had a problem getting the Poly in September, when we usually travel at the 7 month mark. This year, I am going in October and it is still available.

I'll be there right after Labor Day. I hope this just means more normal crowd levels for Sept.

I had trouble when trying to book at 7 months out for September 28. I missed it when I tried right on the dot at 8:00 EST. But on September 30, it was no trouble at all. I thought I had gotten it because I was so fast, but nope. I got it because there was so much availability. I was just surprised since October 1 is its 51st birthday. I figured a lot of people would want to stay there on that date.

ETA: Just noticed it is now gone on the 1st.

ETA: And now it's back! I am literally shocked!!!

I think it’s just that the 51st anniversary isn’t viewed with the same excitement as the 50th! It’s not quite the same milestone.

True. I guess I just figured that a lot of people may have missed the 50th due to Covid and would want to make up for it this year. I have had trouble several times booking Poly 7 months out. Just surprised it was so easy on this particular date.

My first thought was it's probably a weekend. Went to look and see that it is. People still like those mid-week lower point dates just a bit more! And the shortened month of Feb might have snuck up on a few people. Or maybe that was just me.

That is true. I didn't think about that. That weekend cost is a big jump especially since it's coming off of the low-cost September. Actually, I was afraid of March 1 booking because of all the people who would be trying for the 29th, 30th, and 1st all at the same time. I had already told myself there was no way I was getting it. I was pleasantly surprised.
